That motor still wont work in an 06. Just stop now Ken, you obviously don't know what you're doing.

This is all very hard to comprehend by reading a spec sheet. Because of this, I decided it would be useful to simply plot the whole lift cycle for various cams and overlay them. The area under the curve is what Ibase here.
So the variances you show between the V9 and Spec C are within the tolerances of your rig, you consider them insignificant and the cams identical?

That makes sense to me. I have a fair amount of knowledge of administrative work inside a car plant, have classmates that work in one, overseas.
If you have the same part number, it is possible to still have different suppliers, but those have to adhere to quite strict ISO regulations, designed to insure that the final product is identical.
Now, things in life are not always by the book, but for most of the time, you have identical product.

I've read the discussion about EJ257 piston skirt coatings, but the research done was never shown with the details as above.

I think that the parts analysis based on part numbers, for different years of JDM EJ207, stands as Sponaugle made it.

I have a v8 207, AVCS is working and it will be running on E85 soon. I was looking at different turbos and I am leaning towards a twinscroll GTX3076R, though I am unsure of what hotside size to use.

Does anyone have useful input or has anyone used this particular turbo on a JDM STi engine with good results? The GTX30xx turbos seem to be getting good reviews but does anyone have firsthand experience with them on these engines?

Goals are 400whp on E85, would like to keep as much spool and driveability as possible.

^ I think the GTX3071R would be a better choice if you are looking for response

You running a rotated setup?

Well with a 8250 redline the 207 definitely has the range to flow the gtx3076 so you would have more top end and I think the response should not be that much different from a 3071. If I did a 207 swap into my 02 wrx I'd go 3076 for sure.

No, not rotated setup as of now. Who sells a rotated twinscroll setup? Full-race is the only place I can think to check but I am not looking to spend the kind of money their parts usually run.

I believe Ultimate Racing, among others (Full Race like you said), sell twinscroll rotated set ups. I don't think any of them would be considered cheap.

I guess your turbo choice all depends on what you want to do with the car.

Hey, I hate to pimp out my stuff in this thread, but we are a small group so its much better targeted here...

I'm selling:

1) Ver. 8 Spec-C cams, mint condition. No, seriously perfect lobes and journals.

2) Ver. 9 Spec-C ECU. No immobilizer junk; AVCS control.

So I'm going to say that I'm lazy and want a straight answer LOL

so I need to replace my valve cover gaskets for my EJ207 ver7 engine. I'm at a cross roads as to what to buy. I did read somewhere within this thread (i think page 79) that I can buy certain parts... I checked japanparts and found that they are selling 10105AA351 which I think is the full engine gasket set for the EJ207 for quite a bit of money. I checked ebay and there is a company called Mizumo auto that sells their own kit similar to this one (I think) for a lot less. Anyone ever used their kit?

japanparts

mizumo auto

Furthermore, did a little more research and the full JDM EJ207 full gasket set might be 10105AA580 / 10105AA360. I think the first one according to importcars.co.uk is for the UK version of the EJ207 and the second one is for the import (JP?) version of the EJ207.

What's the best option?

Thanks guys I saw that but having "unknown" things happen and having a kit lying around might help you know? Just looking at options right now.

I am at the moment only looking for the valve cover gaskets and inside seals but since I'm keeping it forever... lol I saw it wouldn't be a bad thing to have around

Hit Stephen at IA up.... he is awesome and can probably setup you up with a good deal on a whole set. The OEM gaskets from Subaru are the best and as such I would stick with them.

10105AA351 is the 02-03 USDM 205 gasket set, its missing the 207 valve cover gaskets and intake cam seals you need. If you just need the valve cover seals, you can get the them at rallispec or iaperformance. the inner seals around the sparkplug area can be found at any dealership.

Thanks bro. I appreciate the info. I know that you said the same thing LOL. I hate to say but I've never seen the difference between the USDM and the JDM cam seals. anyone got a pic for comparison?

the intake cam seals for the 207 are the same part as the 257 cam seals, its the inner diameter that is wider.

Just got my tune finished last night. Thanks goes out to Phatron for putting up with me. I love the linear feel of this motor. The sound up 8k is freaking wonderful too.

+1 for stephen at IA.
He gave me a discount for my AVCS kit.
Anyway, hate to jump in the middle of something, but I just did my v8 swap and AVCS is working, however I cannot get a smooth idle and keep getting code P0519 IAC. The car runs smooth once you get it past the ****ty idle. I removed and cleaned my air control valve only to have the code come back after 15 min of driving. This was last night, today after work Im goin to adjust my throttle cables on hopes that mavbe one of them is just sticking.
Just wanted another opinion on the matter or any other possible solutions.

Looks to me he logged just manifold pressure, instead of calculated manifold pressure. Which would be why it only shows 18psi on the dyno graph. However he could have just done a very safe tune.

Ok guys, so I'm planning to getting a bigger turbo for my stock v8 EJ207. My goal is 350-400whp on pump, and alot more on e85. My question is which will be an all around better turbo for my engine/goal.

rotated GTX3076R or s200sx 7670 twin scroll (I was recommended this turbo by a full-race engineer I talked to at englishtown, NJ)...

thanks.

you could hit 350 with the dom1.5xtr which has a TS and single scroll option. plus its stock location and has an awesome blouch warranty to back it up here in the states! e85 should easily push into the 375-400range. beyond that I am unsure how the engine will hold up. everyone says they are strong but i never read much on what will go first in optimal conditions i.e. engine in good cond, good oil, good tune.

You can hit 350whp with the Tomei 7960 and be over 400whp on e85. I wouldn't waste my money on the 1.5xtr unless i had a tiny motor.

Looks like I'll finally be able to contribute some fun to this thread. I just bought an SBR GT12 turbo (pretty much a 3076r) and a EWG setup. Still need to buy a few things to support it all though. Going to convert to speed density soon too. I'm pretty pumped because I've just been on my VF30 for the last 3 years.
