Another 'Guess That Car'
Hint: It's an obscure Canadian designed and built, and rare.

Is it a Cunningham? That's the only Canadian Sports car maker I've heard of.

Something based on a Triumph Spitfire, then beaten with an ugly stick?

Ah! I've got you guys stumped on this one didn't I.
Shame on you Quebecers... It's a Manic GT. First debuted at the Montreal Auto Show in 1969; it went into production in 1971. I have seen only one on the road myself, ever. Only a few hundred were made. The car faded into obscurity ever since. It was designed and built in Grandby, Quebec. The car weighed about 1400lbs and it used a Renault 1300cc, 135HP in-line 4. But because it was light, it was dammed fast. Ed. |

John-I thought it was Sonett at first, too, and was going to say "Huh? That's made in Sweden", but then I scrolled down and saw the front...similar for sure....

@ eugenekid
that looks like the typical static camber position of an infamous swing-axle independent rear suspension. |

It fooled me too! I thought it was a Sonnett with some body cladding. Haha, we're all Saabers.

Since everyone is excited about the Sonett V4...I thought I would mention that my father, in Medford Oregon, is looking to move about a dozen Sonetts. He also has quite a few 96 V4 Sedans.
One in particular is a 1968 Sonett V4 with about 140hp, and 1460 pounds. Does pretty good in OSP autocrossing and hillclimb. Chris Hartman www.subrew.com |
