My last few details (LOTS of pics - WRX, S2K, EVO X, Genesis, Sierra, Drag Trans Am)
I'm cross posting to my Autopia thread cuz there were far too many pics to post.
I did a bunch of details recently, some full details, some 1 step clean ups, a headlight restore, etc. http://www.autopia.org/forum/click-b...g-transam.html Thanks for looking! David

Whose silver bugeye is that? I parked next to it a couple times at UIC.

That IS a nice bugeye. Usually don't dig on the CF look but that one pulls it off well. Never knew a silver car could pop like that....I should get off my ass and wash mine.

Yes, white and silver cars don't look dirty usually, but when they are clean they look AMAZING IMHO. Go clean your car! Toss some wax on it too! |

BTW, when was this silver bugeye detailed? I believe that's my silver 9-2X on the lift when it was down at DS1 for 7 weeks when my tranny was being rebuilt.

Nice TA I've been fallowing the build oin another site that think is a BEAST..
a rotary with a wool pad would have made short order of the side pannel that was being sticky for ya |

I did some searching and posting on Autopia about that fender, it appears that late 90's red Trans Am's have been known to suffer from clear coat failure. I sent the owner a PM linking him to my thread about it and to some other clear coat failure examples, including a red 98 TA with CCF that looks identical to that panel. I've been detailing a long time, a wool pad would not have done anything to correct clear coat failure. I've seen CCF a handful of times, never like this thought. When I've seen it it had the typical crows feet look of cracks and or so sever that you could see the failure from a mile away, the clear chipping away like a bad sunburnt skin pealing, never like this. |

I have seen that clear coat failure before...it really isn't that uncommon on that vintage of GM car. You can try wet sanding the snot out of it and re-clear the car...or just repaint.
I know this because I had one...the problem is more than skin deep. |
