My friend just showed me this website and thought I would pass it along to you guys. I think it looks great from the front, but the rear of the car just isn't looking good.

Where are the great auto designers/stylists at anymore? Look what they are doing to BMW, Subaru. Pontiac etc. Is it that hard to come up with a pleasing, sexy shape? Even the cars that are doing well like the 300C you could hardly call beautiful. If Subaru produces that version of the STi even I will have to re-think getting another one and I never thought I would say that.

didnt everybody hate the GDA/Bugeye when it came out?

On another note, I understand the guy worked for Alfa-Romeo, btu cant he come up with something else? I like it, but so far everyone has compared it to his Alfa work, because it looks just like it.

I hope it doesn't look like that. Quick glance it looks like the sunfire with the factory installed body kit.

Come on people... these are photoshops. These threads are getting old. Stop forming opinions on pictures of a car that does not and never will exist. Wait until the new design is officially announced by Subaru.

Notice in those photos that the Impreza body is taken DIRECTLY from the front of the 2004 STi brochure. The headlights are photshopped from an 05 Legacy. The tail lights are directly off the new Tribeca. The dual exhaust is also likely from a photo of the 05 Legacy as well.

Anyone's guess at this point, but I'm leaning towards "all new" from what some SOA people have said and other indicators.

There are several signs.

WRC05 car's first rally is Mexico

Geneva Automotive Show is at the same time

There were no Imprezas (except the OBS) at Detroit.

"All new" fits the current design turnover if you make one assumption; Subaru may decide simultaneously release the car in the US and Japan. Aside from the last impreza going 7 years, Subaru is pretty committed to the 5 year redesign cycle. Now that, taken by itself, would put an all new impreza on our hands in the summer of 2006 as a 2007 model with the Japanese getting it in the fall of 2005 as a 2006 model

However, I believe they are going to try to sync up the release between the US and global markets and get rid of that 6 month lead time the rest of the world has on us. So, we would get the car this fall at the same time that the Japanese would have gotten it. Thus, this satisfies the 5 year design cycle even though it only appears to be 4 years in the US.

^^^ What he said.

Subaru models typically operate on a 5 year design schedule. The last redesign was in late spring 2000 when the bug-eyed Impreza was introduced in Japan.

If Subaru continues with the 5 year schedule, we will likely see a new new design by the end of this year. Keep in mind that the United States typically gets the new Impreza one model year after it is introduced. Logically, we can expect a completely new Impreza on our shores in 2006 as a 2007 model.

Then again, there is always the possibility of a world launch. While Subaru has ever done this, I think it would be a good idea for SOA.
