Default Clearance Question

Alright I did a search and no luck, so hopefully some of you guys can help me out

I'm looking into SSR Competition wheels, either the 17x7.5 or the 18x8 (If the gold ones come in 17x7.5) So the big question here is.. I have tanabe springs that will lower the car about 1.5-1.75"

The million dollar questions are..

What tire size would I get to have my speedometer up to par when the rims are on..and will I have rubbing issues. (I know the tire size is what makes this question answered, but my question is which tire size do i get, to make the speed reading accurate, as well as no rubbing)

Thanks a bunch
Rich

18x8??? I personally don't think that's safe. I think the widest your rims width SHOULD be is 7.5.

BUT it depends on your offset. Personally, you shouldn't go wider than 225 if your car is lowered that much. Even then you might experience rubbing with 18x8. Although i'd love to have 18x8s.

Well i don't know what offset should be on 18x8s. I never look at them because of pricing and stuff. Have fun searching though. I kinda hate to say it, but you MIGHT have to part with the idea of the 18x8s. But, if you can find that it fits, then all the more luck to you. But yeah, have fun.

I've been researching this very thing. Here's a like to tire sizes. The Miata people were nice enough to set it up.

I'm looking at 225/45/17's on 17X7.5 wheels. Not sure about clearance after lowering.
