The one I got from eBay was 110% perfectand 50+% cheaper

He's just referring to the fact that the 2012+ Impreza (and 2015 WRX/STI) use a newer style blade. Some of the eBay sellers do have this blade. Some do not. The issue with eBay is that it's a bit of a gamble what you'll end up getting. Some of them are certainly fine products. It's just that so many sellers come and go, have vague listings, and often sell the wrong items that many people get frustrated.

If you're trying to save a few dollars, then you can definitely give eBay a shot. But there are many people that try eBay and end up getting the wrong things or low quality parts. It really is hard to tell what you're getting with many of the listings. If that's a risk you're willing to take, then go for it.

That sucks. Some dealers are like that. For getting a blade cut you can try calling up locksmith's or even hardware stores. I wouldn't trust anyone but the dealer for programming the transponder chip, but for just cutting the blade it's pretty low risk of something getting screwed up. Worst case they'll ruin the blade, but that's not that big of an issue.

I'm going to need another two sets for my new WRX. Yeah, I sold my STI because I thought the seats were causing back issues. Then I had shoulder surgery and my back issues went away... FML

Aren't stealerships great?

Just call up a local mobile locksmith to handle the blade cutting. I resorted tot hat when the dealerships started giving me the run around. The locksmith showed up and cut the blade in about 5 minutes. The key has worked flawlessly .

For a 2009 WRX I would need the Legacy 09 receiver and an 09 Legacy fob plus the shell/key? [email protected]

Thanks so much for your contribution to the community. I've taken a lot of inspiration from your previous car build and your insight has been a fantastic help.

You are quite apparently selling these now/vending. Please email [email protected] to register as a vendor and the thread will be re-opened.
