Squeezing it all out of 440cc's
I've been having some fun lately seeing just how much power I can get out of the stock 440cc injectors. And I'm a little suprised
As long as I start fading boost by 5.5k rpm's, I never see the 90's, and my car pulls as good as it did with tuned modded stockers. So, I'm cheating a little; I've did the FPR mod, and I'm running a mix of 98 octane for safety. Details: Deadbolt Kong turbo, full exhaust, stock TMIC. I've got a set of pinks ready to go in, and I'll probably put them in just as a safety factor, but I wanted to inform the community on what could be accomplised with the stock 02-05 injectors and good gas 3809 +8.4 3.8 100 40 00 rich +16.3 49.4 +19.0 -1.6 450.00 3.6 rich0 3866 +9.4 3.6 100 50 00 rich +14.2 56.1 +19.3 -1.7 450.00 3.5 rich0 3992 +9.4 3.6 100 50 00 rich +14.5 56.0 +19.3 -1.7 450.00 3.6 rich0 3949 +12.2 3.8 100 60 00 rich +13.3 63.8 +18.8 -1.3 450.00 3.6 rich0 4030 +12.2 3.8 100 60 00 rich +13.1 64.7 +18.9 -1.3 450.00 3.6 rich0 4110 +14.6 4.0 100 80 00 rich +12.8 68.2 +17.8 -1.2 450.00 3.7 rich0 4074 +14.6 4.0 100 80 00 rich +12.6 69.9 +18.2 -1.3 450.00 3.7 rich0 4166 +15.8 3.9 100 80 00 rich +12.0 68.7 +17.3 -1.6 450.00 3.8 rich0 4177 +16.4 4.1 100 80 00 rich +11.8 67.9 +17.6 -1.6 450.00 3.7 rich0 4290 +17.4 4.1 100 80 00 rich +12.9 72.1 +17.8 -1.8 450.00 3.9 rich0 4301 +18.2 4.1 100 80 00 rich +13.2 72.4 +17.4 -1.8 450.00 3.9 rich0 4357 +18.6 4.0 100 90 00 rich +12.9 74.5 +17.5 -1.7 450.00 3.9 rich0 4468 +18.8 4.1 100 80 00 rich +12.6 74.8 +18.1 -1.8 450.00 4.0 rich0 4468 +19.2 4.1 100 80 00 rich +13.0 74.3 +17.9 -1.7 450.00 3.9 rich0 4610 +19.4 4.1 100 90 00 rich +13.2 77.3 +18.9 -1.7 450.00 4.0 rich0 4597 +19.4 4.1 100 90 00 rich +13.5 79.8 +19.3 -1.7 450.00 4.0 rich0 4728 +19.6 4.2 100 90 00 rich +14.9 84.5 +21.2 -3.3 450.00 3.9 rich0 4681 +19.6 4.2 100 90 00 rich +15.5 83.8 +21.0 -3.3 450.00 3.9 rich0 4866 +20.0 4.2 100 90 00 rich +15.5 83.5 +21.8 -2.0 450.00 3.9 rich0 4859 +20.0 4.2 100 90 00 rich +15.6 88.3 +23.5 -2.0 450.00 3.9 rich0 4852 +20.2 4.2 100 90 00 rich +17.4 82.0 +22.2 -3.5 450.00 3.9 rich0 4997 +20.0 4.2 100 90 00 rich +17.3 81.2 +23.1 -3.7 450.00 3.9 rich0 5081 +19.8 4.2 100 90 00 rich +19.1 83.7 +23.6 -3.5 450.00 3.9 rich0 5027 +20.4 4.2 100 90 00 rich +19.6 85.6 +23.2 -3.6 450.00 3.9 rich0 5065 +19.8 4.3 100 80 00 rich +19.8 87.4 +24.8 -3.7 450.00 4.0 rich0 5184 +19.2 4.2 100 80 00 rich +20.5 85.6 +24.9 -3.9 450.00 4.0 rich0 5128 +19.2 4.3 100 80 00 rich +21.0 85.4 +25.1 -4.2 425.00 4.0 rich0 5167 +18.8 4.3 100 80 00 rich +21.6 87.2 +26.0 -3.9 425.00 4.0 rich0 5385 +18.8 4.3 100 80 00 rich +21.9 88.9 +26.0 -4.2 400.00 4.0 rich0 5359 +18.0 4.3 100 80 00 rich +22.4 88.8 +25.8 -4.1 425.00 4.0 rich0 5393 +18.0 4.3 100 80 00 rich +22.5 89.2 +25.8 -4.2 425.00 4.0 rich0 5564 +16.6 4.3 53 70 00 rich +23.6 86.8 +26.0 -4.2 ECU. 3.9 rich0 5446 +16.6 4.3 53 70 00 rich +24.5 81.0 +26.0 -4.4 ECU. 3.5 rich0

What are your AFR's by redline?
My STi's was only pushing about 13 lbs by redline and at 12:1 AFR (had water injection) my IDC's were around 85. More boost...smaller injectors...near same IDC...? I'd think your AFR would have to be really lean. |

I'm sure I would be running static on the injectors if I didn't taper the boost off significantly at 6k rpm's. I'm talkin' going from 400 to 100 for my CLB #'s. With my driving style, I almost always shift before 6k anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Mid-range torque is my 'cup of tea'

You're also in a geographical region where you don't get as much severe cold. On an average winter morning here, about 15-20F ambient, seeing 25-35F IAT, 13.5 psi or so is enough to see up to 95% IDC at stock fuel pressure and moderate (11.7:1) AFR.
Now, an additional 10psi in the FPR would net me a 10% drop in IDC, and water/methanol injection would yield about another 10% (because I could lean out another point or so in AFR)... I'd need to do both before I'd feel confident in running anything more aggressive than the stock turbo. |

Yeah, I've considered that. The air is just not as dense around here because of the temps. I did the above pull this morning, and it was about 50F out.
Can anyone recommend what I could do with my timing to inrease torque in mid-range? |

your timing looks pretty good...but without seeing your EGT's AFR...and the fact that you're running 98, it's hard to say how much you can move.
