What are you looking for out of a brake pad? Performance?

I use Axxis Ultimate pads because they work well but they are very dusty and somewhat noisy.

I like the Hawk Street pads... they're quiet, bite well and aren't very dusty. Take a little to heat up, but that's ok.

I want whatever will give me the best in braking power. Though, it has to be reasonable so a BBK isn't for me.

I'll look into Axxis, so many different brands for a Japanese car. hehe

for my legacy I've always bought deluxe PBR's from Paul Eklund at get-primitive. the pads work great, and I like supporting a local rally bro

axis ultimates has better initial bite than the HPS, but they dust a lot more. HPS is a little more linear in brake modulation.

Don't get Greenstuff pads.

do you have any performance aspirations? A pad that is quiet, doesn't dust much, and works well on the first stop is not going to work when the brakes get really hot. So generally you end up with a trade-off. Some generic auto-zone pad will be quiet and work well while commuting. A hot pad like Hawk HP+ or a Ferodo DS2500 is going to be noisy, dusty, and feel like crap when cold, but probably won't ever overheat.

A pretty popular and high quality middle ground pad is the Hawk HPS. They're pretty cheap and a good pad so I'd recommend that.

You still haven't answered the question. What exactly is that supposed to mean? Do you want the best in braking power once? Or repeatedly? Do you want it on the street, or on the track?

Pad shapes are pad shapes. There are no more pads for Japanese cars than any other type of car.

I'm using the DS2500s on both my Subaru and my CTS-V. They're moderately dusty (but not as bad as Carbotech Panthers or Mintex 1155s), but I would say cold performance is excellent, and I don't think I've ever heard a peep from them on either car.

I would agree, but kirbykirb says he wants the best in braking power, so I would recommend Hawk Blues or HT10s or some other track pad that would be completely unsuitable for what he really needs.

Hello to a fellow BD GT'er

Where would one go about purchasing a set of Hawk HPS pads for a '96 2.5GT?

Lots of vendors have them, any one specific? Do I need WRX pads or do they have separate pads for BD legacies?

Thanks for the help

Heh, sorry for the confusion. I want the best in braking power for normal city roads/highway. Not the track.
