Anybody with Invidia Catback on 08 STi?
So I have an Invidia catback on my 08 STi. I am very happy with the sound and overall quality of the exhaust. However, the exhaust does not fit very well.....at all. The driver side tip rests against the plastic on the rear bumper, so I am afraid of it melting the bumper. Also, the system itself rests against the rear diff. It isnt rattling or anything (yet) but that still makes me a bit uneasy. I have been to a muffler shop where we tried to shimmy the tips into place but couldnt really get it into place (we didnt wanna start bending and hammering just yet), we also unbolted the system from the DP and tried to rotate it around to see if that would help. Nothing has worked.
Which brings me to my question. Those of you with the Invidia catback, do you have these issues? I have been in contact with my vendor and they are willing to switch out my system for a new Invidia system. If everyone elses systems fit fine, I will go ahead and switch it out for a new system, but if everyone else is having similar issues, I will just try to make mine work.

hmmm... sounds like invidia is having fitment problems all around. I would try to exchage it for a different system. I know its for an 08 wrx, but it just shows that it might not be an isolated event... Last edited by 08WhiteRex; 11-18-2008 at 09:36 PM. |

So I went out and tried to mess with my exhaust again this morning and had no luck at all. I took a few pictures of my problems though. The first two pictures are the exhaust sitting against the rear diff, and the next two are the driver tips on the plastic of the bumper.

I have an 08 wrx with invidia cat back. And my resonator is very close to floor pan and pipe very close to rear diff. I was hoping so XL hangers will help a tad.

I have the Invidia Q300 w racecat downpipe, double quad pipes.
Fitment was bolt on, no issues at all. So i guess the fitment issues is solved. Great sound(not too much for neighbours, but LOUD on WOT), great looks, good quality. Would have bought again. past i have had RCM 3", H&S 2,5" and so on on past imprezas. Have used it in Norway (winter, snow, salted roads) no corrosion at all. Much better than the junk the car comes with, wich rusts/corrodes in such environments. 10/10 |

I just got a Q300 and my driver side tips are very close to the bumper. The passenger side is perfect. That said, it was a PITA to get the tips flush. At first, driver side tips were WAY back under the bumper while the passenger side tips were sticking out a lot. A rubber mallet fixed that. But over all, Im not to happy about that. I plan to take it to a muffler shop to have the driver side tips relocated to center of the bumper cutout.
It DOES sound great though! Hey anyone else have a whistle like sound at full boost/load? EDIT: I loosened up all the bolts, realigned the CB and now its sitting perfectly. I had to buy a rubber mallet to beat the driver side tips into place, but now that its all lined up, Im happy. Pics: Last edited by ILSMKU2; 05-26-2009 at 12:31 PM. |
