Question 2.5 RS owners who have bought WRXs: Whattya think?

I realize you haven't had your cars very long (may not even be out of break-in period yet..) but, what do you think? I feel that it takes a few thousand miles for the real character of a car to show, but what are your initial impressions? I'm only interested in the opinions of those who have had an RS for a while, for you to contrast the two cars. Thanks!

I had a '99 RS for two(2) years prior to trading up to the Rex.

Appearence (Outside)
WRX: Civil, yet aggresive. He'll kick your head in if provoked...but then buy you a drink afterwards, and maybe pay the medical bills.

RS: Meaner look, obnoxius and fun. Will kick your head in for no appearent reason, steal your beer, and take your date home with him.

Appearence (Inside)
WRX: Contemporary Racerish Look. Only thing missing is the brushed Alum gauges and plates throughout. Kinda TT'ish. Better quality fit and materials.

RS: Boy-racerish, however business like for Weekend Warrior events. Lotsa super-glue.
You know you Suby is happy when the mirror starts whistling.

Performance:
WRX: Gotta love turbo's! Kinda like the calm before the storm. It's coming, It's coming, OH CRAP...THERE IT IS!!! Yikes.
Handling is different. Can't really explain except that it doesn't push and trail-braking this thing in the rain is an absolute blast. More reponsive to steering with throttle.

RS: Low end torque all the way....I do miss it so. It may fall all over itself on the high end, but the grunt is alot of fun. I think launching the REX is going to take some practice compared to the RS. The RS was easier to toss around too. It may be I am still getting used to the rex.

Overall
WRX: Performance with class. Can be valet parked at your finest restaurants, but still mix it up at the local roadhouse/redneck joint if need be.

RS: Can't take him anywhere without him causing serious trouble. You know that one friend who always gets you into fights because he kept mouthing off to guy named Ox? This be him. I will definitely miss the ugly-stepchild.

Shagn Shazza Shaggy OOOOOOO!

Great post by ShagnRS - not a lot to add. I traded in my MY98 RS today for the rex. Impressions so far:

As ShagnRS mentioned, a very noticeable difference in low end torque. Of course that is to be expected with less displacement and a lower compression ratio. I can't comment much on overall power as the car only has 20 miles on it so far.

The WRX is smoother/quieter over our lame roads. I know it's over 3 years newer, but I think the RS was always harsher.

I really like the interior of the WRX over the RS. I get more headroom, more room for my right leg and the seats are much better. I might actually be able to wear a helmet in this one. Perhaps some autox in the future.

No comments about the handling yet. Pretty much stuck in traffic from the dealer to work and to home. However we are heading to the mountains next week so I am looking forward to some canyons. :-)

Best part is the silly grin I can't seem to remove...

Hey Justin, yeah, you've met me before, I was at the last D&B meet with wrc555, with the blue impreza, v5 spoiler and underskirts. Remember me?

That's a great post, ShagnRS! It seems to be spot on from what I've experienced so far.

How can you compare a car which costs several thousands more to an RS? Obviously it's gonna be better. It should!

And Delhi, I think you missed another point. Depending on what you're looking for in a car, he didn't necessarily say it was better...

Delhi did you even read ShagnRS's post? I agree with Memnoch ... you missed his point completely.

Thanks for the great post ShagnRS. Have fun with your new baby, and try not to miss your old girl too much.
