Natty,

do you have a wideband? if so what was teh afr at wot? do you have a cable to pull LV? or are you on an AP?

Another thing that comes into play alot at the track are the intake air temps and teh timing compensation associated with them. If you get up to 140* the ecu pulls 8*.....which is a large amount of power.

Hey Ron, nope no cable or AP, mikey tuned me on his cable last time he was down. I'll try to get some logs and see if I can borrow a cable.

I do have a wideband. Tomorrow morning I'll take a look at my WOT A/F's

I was tuned on a AEM cold air intake but since we were getting all this rain recently in south fl I took off a part of the AEM to make it into a short ram. So it's getting a lot more hot air then usual.

I'm getting a cobb sf intake with the heat box and I'll have mikey touch up the tune for meh when hes down and log the car.

U can't be changing around the intake setup like that....even though the piping is the same diameter it will still throw off the afr

Update****

Ran at the track tonight. I will say I got quite a bit better at driving. I definitely needed a driver mod.

Tonight I ran a 12.9 at 106. My 60ft was a 1.69. My best trap speed for the night was a 109. Right now my issue is getting my 1-2 down smoothly and quickly. I'm forcing it into 2nd and i just know I can be quicker. My 330 was a 5.3. My 1/8 was a 8.2.

I know I can do better if I can nail my 1-2. Any suggestions on how to get the 1-2 down fast and good? Shud I let the Roma drop a bit before taking it into 2nd?

Really hoping to nail low 12s. High 11s would be amazing.

Thanks guys

5.3 330 on a 12.9 pass is actually pretty damn good.
Good 60ft, good 330... what was the 1/8th MPH?

Sounds like your car is just missing power. With that trap your probably making about 300-310whp which is kinda ****ty for a 16xt on e85

Ik I can do better. What happens with my car is if i don't fully let off the throttle the car won't build up boost fast enough like it should. But when I nail it down perfect it does. I was doing some practice runs down my street and I am definitely getting it down.

That's why the times seem a little off. Going out next week for low 12s. Will keep you guys updated

^^what I mean is between shifts if I don't let off the throttle all the way it will lag and take time to build boost if I'm not fast enough but if I do then the turbo will be right back in full boost instantly. On that 12.9 pass I messed up my 3-4 it lagged if it wouldn't have lagged and I would have nailed that shift down it would have been a lot faster and I know it...

The car has the power. I know it does. Il keep u guys updates. I'm running next week and hopefully will get what I want

The cars not slow. Trust me. I went from a 14.2 to a 12.9 and a trap speed of 102 to 110 just by me shifting better and learning my car.

I'm telling u guys I know the car is not slow and it is not the car. I know it's me and I know I can do even better.

1/8 mile mph was 87 for the 12.9 pass

what were the track temps? i still say you're probably missing timing at the track due to increased IAT's from the staging lanes.

Sounds like a transient boost issue. I always thought that 16g held boost a bit better. Personally I'd have the tune checked out, might make driving it a bit easier.

This was a great read of a thread. Glad you uploaded the video, and I'm glad to see the huge improvement too. I kinda figured it was your launch, by the video... Seems like you proved that. I've been wanting to take my car to the track for so long... This is inspiring!

Really Proud of you Natty! Your making awesome progress dude. Such an improvement in not only driving but over all knowledge of these cars since I met you in South Florida years back.

Phatron has postedsome good information in this thread dude, neglect the others. The car is running 23 psi, 28 degrees of timing, and mid 11 AFR's. This same set up + a relative tune went 11.71 @ 116 this year in a 05 WRX. This is exactly where your car is sir. Some more practice and the zero'ing out of the temperature compensations (just for the track, only) and you will be up there.

You have a cable?? Ill send you a map with the IAT comps zero'ed. Ron was in the ballpark, seems at 140 degrees your pulling 6 degrees. This brings you to roughly pump gas power.

You'll get there bro!

I'm going to hook up a go pro inside the car to get some footage!! Gonna be sweet.

i cut some serious time off of my runs after i made a short shifter for my 03.. my car was all stock.. except for a bigger tmic and an aem intake on 91-93 pump gas and i ordered a cheap short shifter and it wasnt short enough for my liking so i cut about 3" out of the middle and re welded it .. shimmed my linkages with washers so it was super tight and went to running low 13's from running 14 flats.. i launched around 4-5 with no launch control.. just bounced it off 4500 with my foot and get my clutch timed right after a few passes... my R/T's stayed under .100 the best being .002 on my best run.. 60' was 1.9; 330 was 5.6; 1/8 was 8.6@82 and trapped at 102... this car (at the time) was at 15 psi and weighed 3600 the day i ran it.. with me and all my stuff and a full tank.. right now its got a different motor.. (that hasnt started yet :/) and i hope to breach into the 12's now.. didnt change much in it.. but with a proper tune with my exhaust it should be better, but after about 3 passes it got too hot and it needed to sit for a while before i could do anything respectable again ha

When I'm at the track trying to get a fast time i don't care much about the reaction time. I focus on my launch, wheel spin, and shift points depending on the car's setup.

What is the best way to finding shift points? Virtual Dyno runs for each gear to determine peak torq/rpm at that gear?

Is Flat foot recommended? few times I have tried it I get inconclusive results.
