Simple Oil Change Question
Hi all,
stupid question, I changed my oil today and once I put everything all back together and the oil in I realized that I forgot to put the washer back on the oil plug. Is this going to be a problem or can I just put it back on in another 3,000 miles? ~Jeff

I would say you better drain out the new oil, put back the washer and tighten the drain plug, and pour in new oil (not those "drained" new oil, but new from bottle, unless you are very very sure the container which holding the "drained" new oil is very very clean, but I doubt it because you probably use the same container for old oil before).
Spending <$10 for another 5 qts. of dino oil is way better then running low on oil and put your engine at risk. |

I would just make sure you have an extra quart in the car and check it every time you fillup the gas tank. And it wouldn't hurt to check the ground under where you park every night for fresh oil.
You'll probably be fine. |

What you do is flip your car upside down, remove the drain plug, put crush washer on, reinstall drain plug and flip car right side up. Guarantee no oil will come out the drain plug!!!

Or....get a new drain plug and a washer, when the engine is cold yank the old one out, have the new plug ready, and put it in fast. Top off....done.
