Default noob question about noob questions

Hows this for a noob question:

I have been a member of nasioc for maybe 3 weeks and a new subaru owner for a little over 2 weeks. I have been posting questions in the Newbies & FAQs forum for the most part. I have put "NOOB QUESTION" in the title in hopes that it will protect me from the harsh comments that are sure to follow if I didn't express to everyone that I am a Subie Newbie.

So my question is this, when can I no longer hide under the "NOOB QUESTION" security blanket and am forced to face the cold harsh world????

When the questions you ask have not already been covered a million times. If I were you I would be reading Unabombers Manifesto and anything/everything related to your car. It's all about mastering the search feature and educating yourself. Have fun with your WRX!

p.s. ignore the harsh comments from others. It's not worth the mental energy.

To graduate from n00b moderator to grown up moderator, I had to take the pebble from the hand of North Ursalia (a supermod). I used the old trick, kicked him in the groing and caught the pebble as it flew from his hand.

I think there's a similar thing you have to do.

Or be proficient with the search function......

Juicebox- the Newbies section is designed specifically for n00b questions, and frequently-asked questions. It is against the rules for someone to blatantly flame you here. Constructive criticism is different . As mentioned though, if someone wants to be an ass, let them be and don't let it get to you. Having thick skin will make your life and stay here on NASIOC much more enjoyable.

Definitely do some research before asking any questions though, as it does get a bit annoying seeing questions asked OVER AND OVER that could be quickly answered with a search, or simply reading the first page of the forum, where there are sometimes EXISTING threads on the same topic.

Oh and North Ursalia is not a place, there is no South Ursalia to the best of my knowledge . He's a Stuper-Moderator here, and has powers. Many much powers.

hahahaha... Audiosavvy, you saved me from looking like a complete ass.

my next NOOB QUESTION post on Nasioc would've been...

Where is North Ursalia??

That's part of graduating, grasshopper. Find the riddle that can release you from your paradox. Maybe kick Rogue in the pebbles and send the video to Subie Gal. That would probably work.

This thread is awesome.

And OP, don't worry too much about n00b questions. I mean seriously, I still come in here from time to time and ask obvious, blatant questions. Usually it's because the search words for them are excluded from the Search feature and I just plain forgot the information I seek.

Basically the idea is find the information yourself, but if you cannot find it or still confused, ask!

This forum is not where you are spoon fed information.

I find myself reading a lot in the Newbie forum and educating myself on what people say/think. You can learn a lot from people posting and other people agreeing or correcting misinformation.

BTW - Welcome to the Subie community!

thanks for the advice guys, I was actually just joking about the harsh comments. I've actually never been on the receiving end of any noob bashing... nor have I seen any on the other threads... everyone here at nasioc is extremely helpful...

especially the dude that suggested the gopher chucks.
