Nice, I love the smell of new car!

FRS now has 1700 or so miles on it.. last few days of "staycation" have been put to good use effin off, surfing the internet and generally being a bum. and .. driving around for fun just because I can. Avg mpg is still 27.9 by the dash, 28.3 by my mathematics.. I'm inclined to say the dash is probably closer to accurate vs my dumb ass.

So far I've swapped head units, put on the oem mudgaruds and changed the oil.

I'll tell you what, changing the oil on this new FA engine platform is STUPID EASY! With the oil filter on top of the engine and a factory opening in the splash/skid pan for the drain plug it doesn't get any easier. Really nice not having to remove anything to do an oil change. Hopefully the impreza has the same opening in the splash pan.. removing that sucker was a pita on my WRX.

I dunno about the normal impreza FA20 but the FRS takes 0-20wt .. its $9/qt at the zone and this little bear holds just under 6 quarts. A price I can live with for 5k-7500k intervals but damn.. will be nice when Mob1 starts selling that stuff in the bigger jugs.

Got a good deal on some forester struts and springs from some cool people. Now to look at options for revalve or rebuild.

If you were closer I'd offer you my old one to test. It threw a CEL last winter, but mysteriously started working the day I swapped in a brand new one.

My first tank was about 30mpg, but I've averaged about 26mpg a tank since then.

Haven't bothered changing the factory fill yet since it's got pretty high moly content and I'm still only at 3K miles. You can find 0W-20 for cheaper than that, but I've decided to go with Motul ester based oil on this gal and they're stupid expensive for a quart. Absolutely planning on doing UOA so I can really get an idea of how often to change the oil instead of the silly 3K miles I was doing on the WRX.

Took the bugeye for an actual test drive rather than just running her on jackstands to find any leaks. Welp, found one as i drove around the neighborhood. Lost powersteering and as I pull into the driveway I see a drips from when i left and then a big pool of ps fluid. sigh.

For some reason subaru used a 2 inch piece of rubber hose with somewhat weak hose clamps to adjoin the fuel hardlines that run beneat the intake manifold. When its cold i guess the hardlines contract just enough for a small bit of fuel to leak out until the car is warm and the metal line expands enough to creat the seal again. I dont trust the local subaru dealership so i did it myself. Wasnt too bad but you did have to take a bunch of stuff off to get to the lines. I replaced the rubber and bought some of the nicer fuel line clamps and after that no more raw fuel smell.
I had this happen to me last winter in my wrx. The smell just went away when it got a little warmer out.

Gave the Forester an ONR bath and dusted off the interior with a Swiffer sheet. The interior looks so much nicer when there's no dust bunnies.

Too bad my car looks nice and I have no time to go to meets.

Talking about fuel issues... I think I need a new fuel pump sending unit. It never goes to F (Full) anymore. It use to go past F but now goes in between 3/4 and F. Getting the same MPGs but have to fill up sooner.

Continued from earlier. Thought the leak was the top banjo bolt on my p/s pump. used brake cleaner to clean everything up and a rag to dry up all the fluid. poured some fluid into the reservoir, every hose connection was dry, then i saw a pool forming on the block underneath the pump and now have a slight whine

Hopefully a rebuild kit can save my pump. also thinking about picking up the o-rings for lines near the rack. Perhaps even better hose clamps to and from the reservoir. I feel its better to take care of those weak spots at once rather than fix one thing to only cause another problem else where.

Sounds a lot like an EVAP issue a lot of people have had.

I bet he does, car is ridiculous. Needs a little paint work but thats what I do. Ive been meaning to message him about the tune and some other questions.

Ill be fixing the paint issues on the front and rear bumper and the front fenders but no big deal, maybe add some aeroguards and if I can ill trade the trunk and hood. I know alot of people like the scoopless and wingless look, and since it has a front mount it doesnt really need a scoop. But I can't help it, I love the scoop, and the I love the spoiler, its just not an sti without it. But well see. This look is growing on me. It does look super slick.

Just finished up the passenger side valve cover gasket/seals/grommets. 15 min after, I drove around and can already see a very small amount of seepage....
-_-

Gonna snug up the bolts a little more, and see where I am. Taking a break now.

Edit: actually, I don't think it's leaking, hard to tell. I'm still taking a break lol, figure it out in a little while

Took some measurements of my powersteering lines. sometime this week going to get some worm clamps for the rubber pieces. Then thursday will be picking up my p/s pump rebuild kit from annapolis subaru. ran dry for about a mile, hoping it's still okay. Praying the rebuild kit + the o rings for the bottom portion of the lines will cure my leak and save my pump.
