Round 6 - Interior
I shipped everything off to Stitchcraft Custom Interiors in Huntington Beach, California to get it's makeover. First up was the dash. We used Sparco Alcantara material. It's different than Alcantara from other companies in that it has a padded backing. It's tactile feel is incredible, but it makes it much harder to work with. Stitchcraft delivered though... Here you see the vents installed to make sure they would still fit. The three little pieces of alcantara near the airbag hole were samples of what different color thread would look like since I was unsure what I wanted for the airbag cover. The airbag cover logo was tough. We went back and forth over e-mail with different samples until it was exactly what I wanted.
The first few "SRS AIRBAG" logos were just generic font that looked similar to the font on the stock airbag cover. I eventually had them scan the logo from the stock cover and digitally sew it so it would be exact. After about 20 more samples, we finally arrived at the finished logos. Here they are on the actual material for the airbag cover... And the final covers completely finished... Last edited by Paulie; 01-27-2007 at 05:26 AM. |

I finally chose the SRS AIRBAG logo because I wanted to retain that factory OEM look...
And the final covered dash, with everything installed... Yeah, you could say I sweat the details, he he he. The steering wheel is up next! - Paulie Last edited by Paulie; 01-27-2007 at 05:28 AM. |

WOW, I love the interior work! I'd love to do that with my RS, the Alcantara-like treatment.
I'd like to find out cost information, but if you would prefer not to talk about that in here, go ahead and PM me. |

So next up on the “to do” list for Stitchcraft was the steering wheel. At the time, I think it may have been a first in the Subie community - to wrap an STi wheel using the padded Sparco Alcantara. Boy was it hard.
Finding the right thread was even worse. We finally tracked it down though. It looked a little off in the second pic next to the actual thread on the STi wheel, but when unraveled and layed across (in the third pic) it matched just about perfect. |

Next up was the actual stitching. This took some time to get right. I had them do some samples to ensure it would be perfect. The first set of samples did not look anything like the stitch pattern on the factory STi wheel.
After I told them exactly how it should look, they started some more samples for me. Umm, no***8230; Definitely not***8230; Too close together***8230; Closer, but not supposed to be doubled up like that. |

They finally got it perfect after many more attempts. I chose to do the top of the wheel in Black stitching, and the bottom half in Red, because I did not want to be distracted by Red stitching looking through the top portion of the wheel to see my instrument cluster.
Here are the final pics of the wheel, with the airbag attached***8230; Next up are the seats, door panels, and shift knob... - Paulie Last edited by Paulie; 01-27-2007 at 12:00 PM. |

He wears gloves anytime his hands touch the steering wheel. Also this want his daily driver until the end of his stay in oklahoma hehe I had to add that paulie. Whoever hasnt had a chance to see this car in person pictures do not do this car justice at all not even a millimeter of justice. This just happened to be the first modded wrx I rode in after I bought my wrx and I was very very impressed. So I had to out do Paulie and make mine faster haha.
