The drivers is. The passenger side can be outfitted I'm sure but the button hole is filled up with the DCCD.

Just the driver's seat is heated? That's unusual. Adding heating elements to seats really isn't that hard, many aftermarket kits are available for $100 per seat or less. Wiring isn't complicated, I ran mine off the cigarette lighter circuit.
Nice to have. Paul |

hmmm.... I was not aware the STI came with heated seats at all? I mean, mine did not...
BUt then agian, I got rid of them, so it would not have mattered. But no, they are not heated at all. And it is not that hard to add an element. I have heated sats in my 1989 Wrangler, running of the cigarette lighter as well P-rex |

Well I'm not sure if the passenger is prewired or not, just that the drivers is hooked up with the switches and all.
To the previous poster: perhaps just the Canadian one's came with heated driver seats. |

Yeah I just doubled checked the site and says "Seats (driver's): Heated with high/low settings". I'm sure the thread originator meant the American version though.

they get the radio, but lose out on HID's (all cars in canadia must have DRL's, which is not a feasible option with HIDS)

Lots of US cars have HIDs and DRL. I'm surprised at how many differences there are between the US and CA STI's.

$85 per seat for a Carbotex (?) kit from leatherseats.com. They are usually running a group buy but you can order them whenever.

We have BMW's that HID's and DRL. I was told that Subaru didn't have the proper facilities to handle the mercury in the HID's and that is why Canada didn't get them.

I must have 10 extra switches. They fail in a variety of ways, but yes, Leather Seats has been pretty cool about it.

how about something like this for a 4 seat kit and wire it off the power mirrors switch? The mirror switch is right there next to the e-brake, plus the mirrors are also ignition switched....so what do you guys think about an install like that?
Or why do you recommend to run it off the cigarette lighter if there's another power source closer to the seats? Any particular reason? |

That's the exact kit that Leatherseats.com sells, and those are the exact POS switches that they no longer sell. They fail, a lot. As in, will fail, not might fail.
I went to the cig lighter simply because it's a higher current circuit. Both seats on high draw quite a bit of juice. Paul |

I've had both seats on high, and my cell phone charging, w/o problems... so I think it's a good enough spot

Since they do in CAN then they may be prewired (the drivers side that is).
What do they go for anyway? |
