Seriously should be stickied. Definitely agree with everything 100%. Now will everyone follow these? I doubt it, which is a sad thing for sure.

Except that common sense is no longer so common.
I don't understand your response. How does stating that replies and messages should be written in grammatically correct English, infer that I meant non-Americans shouldn't use the classifieds? Unless I'm missing the "choose your language" option, then our classifieds are all in English (notwithstanding regionals).
I in no way meant to exclude "non-Americans", rather that slang, text-style typing and rudeness not be used.

Thanks guys for the responses. I'll update post 1 with the "feedback"... feedback when I get home.

the thing that kill me is this....you post EXACTLY AND EXPLICITLY what you have for sale.....some ******* buys it and then realizes it is the wrong thing for their car and they blame YOU for selling them something that wont fit their car and want you to take the part back for less than you sold it for because the ******* does not think he should pay shipping back to you.

I have had that happen to me 2x now......you wont see me post FS things very often again

or ******** sell you parts that they KNOW ARE BAD/BROKEN/BLOWN UP/USELESS/WHATEVER and then they play all stupid and **** and dont know you anymore when you call them on it

Hahaha.... this is sounding more and more sticky worthy!

+1 on being hesitant on buying parts from people w 0-Feedback ratings. Sometimes I see parts for sale that I really want and for good prices, but then I see the seller has no feedback rating .... So far so good though!

Also you can't be more right about people asking questions about your for sale items when your thread CLEARLY states what's for sale. I'm going through that right now w my rear roof spoiler .

Yes it did, I had not read that before. That needs to be stickied in the FS forum.

Come on now, don't get your panties in a bunch. Anyone can tell what I mean by that point. The sole fact of an item being a JDM part does not by itself make it better. Are there better JDM parts, of course. Are there better USDM parts, yes. But price hiking because "it's JDM yo!" is retarded and shows the seller is ignorant of the market. It's a case by case situation.

This should be stickied somewhere if it isn't already.

I'm sure its been said, but once again.. if I'm asking for $175 not shipped, don't offer me 150 shipped. I can't even count the number of times I've been offered equal or less than I'm asking w/o shipping shipped, especially for items that will cost practically my asking price to post alone. And don't keep PMing me when I don't respond.

Use your damn heads

Like you said, your price is the "asking" price. Where's the problem in someone offering you less? Sure it's silly if the item weighs a lot but otherwise your asking price may be that far off base. Lots of dreamers out there (both sellers and buyers), get some thicker skin and ignore offers you don't like, or counter.

FWIW, asking price is != OBO. Its what I'm asking for, not an arbitrary number I plan to be low-balled down 50% from.

Furthermore... let's put the previous point as plainly as possible: if an item can only fit into a box with dimensions somewhere around 72"x12"x24" priced at xyz without shipping and I'm offered xyz shipped, I'll go ahead and assume whoever is offering is either ****ing stupid or intentionally wasting the precious seconds it took me to read and delete the PM. The point isn't that I care about these offers since I delete those messages like its goin out of style--I'm simply exercising my frequent, complete and utter disappointment in the human race through my experience with a (sadly) huge sample of "buyers" on NASIOC and other online markets.

I think this comes down to if you believe in free market ideals or your a command economy junky who thrives on stifled freedom and lack of control....

When you go to the new car dealer, do the cars say OBO on the windshield?

No reason to overpay by dealing with unmotivated sellers asking full market value or above.

We're talking about selling things on forums/craigslist/whatever, not buying cars from the dealer. This is a really silly example for what I brought up.. by your logic then would you go to the dealer and ask for invoice 15k on a 13' STI because the price is up to the buyer and apparently it doesn't matter if the seller is cutting a profit? You'd be laughed you out of the building. FWIW, I would like to hear about the other places you try to barter at; grocery store, Dunkin Donuts, etc? There are such things as fixed prices

My point is incredibly, almost inconceivably simple: think before making absurd offers. Based on a lot of "offers" I've received in my few years selling online, I have a hard time telling if most people are just ******** or actually dumb as hell. In the very least it can get comical, but rarely. I've even had people offended when I won't take a hundred bucks for something I priced at twice that or more.

Please don't spout off economic terms or theories in this thread.
That stuff belongs in another sub forum. Perhaps OT.
Your example has little connection to what we are discussing here.

This is about forum etiquette and knocking common sense into some members on how to deal with their online peers...

P.s... Market value implies what people will pay for an item... So how is someone an unmotivated seller by asking for an items market value?

All valid points to selling online. But, I must add one more.

Don't spend 2-3 days negotiating a price with me just to tell me "damn, I wish I had the money for that". I don't know how many times I've had PM's to negotiate prices from people that are f'n broke and can't buy it at any price.
Don't waste my time if you have no money.

Well most of my post was ment to be humorous. However, the art of the deal has everything to do with this thread. I agree with most of your post, and as long as the seller strictly stipulates NO NEGOTIATION than there should be no negotiation. However I have posted something to the effect of I know you are firm with your price, if that changes let me know (with different levels of sucess).

Iunno I like to haggle.
