When you get a new Android device, what are the first five Apps you install?

I'm not looking for the "Top 5 Apps for Productivity" or "I install the top 5 most expensive apps I've bought from the Play store" - just what five key apps you couldn't live without. I must admit, the recent vote for the Nova Launcher got me thinking about this; I had never heard of it before.

And before you say "blast him with piss" my first Android phone was a T-Mobile G1, which I rooted and on which I played with many ROMs via XDA. However, my next phone was a HTC Evo 4G which I never rooted, and my current love is a GNex on Sprint, stock ROM.

My five essential apps are:

Angry Birds (whatever is new and free)
Robo Defense
Toddler Lock
Dropbox
Astro

What are yours?
titanium backup
ad away
voodoo root keeper
rom manager
es file explorer

E'erone keeps mentioning Titanium backup. School me.

I back up my apps using it, reflash, and reload them? They stay somewhere on the internal storage untouched during data / cache wiping? Settings, playlists, cookies, bookmarks... everything?

Yep, you pretty much nailed it.
It's probably the best most useful app there is if you're rooted

Also, just got my poetic slim case for my N7 today, pretty damn nice. Just slightly worried about the bends on the cover. It makes a glue stretchy pulling sound when I bend the cover.
Other than that it's great. The inside cover is softer than a baby dolphin's ass too.

it can also be used to disable or un-install certain manufacturer or carrier supplied apps that can't be uninstalled or disabled through the app
manager.

So, anyone else got a software update on their S3? (I'm probably late to the party, but it just came throught his morning)

Still on 4.0.4 though Prep work for the release maybe?

PS - Getting swiftkey at $0.99 was a win! Still not quite as nice as the iPhone keyboard was response wise, but about 40 times better than the stock keyboard.

Any Android users and basketball fans here? NBA 2K13 was released yesterday - I didn't even know they were making this for Android. I think I'm going to buy it at $7, but was wondering if anyone already has and what your thoughts are?

Beats buying it for $40-50 for a console.

Not really. I just don't have time anymore to sit infront of the TV and do a whole season or franchise mode, or even play online with friends.

I know the mobile version will be a fraction of what is available on consoles, but will probably be all I need. Just want to pick it up while out and about and have half an hour to spare.

You just got LI3 update. Its been going out since Sept 19.

JellyBean update has already been leaked (see XDA) and 3 new modem versions with it.

Ill just wait for the official release. The leaked ones seem like its not final version yet.
Hell, Im quite happy with ICS. JB is supposed to just bring better GUI performance, which is quite good as it is right now.

That's the way I feel. My days of hardcore gaming are long done. Sitting in front of a console playing games just seems like a huge waste of time to me know.

But, if I'm sitting on the crapper or waiting in a line somewhere... game on

Most of the time I just play Bid Whist instead of any fancy games though.

I've been playing Backflip Madness lately while on the crapper.

One cool feature built in to Titanium... with a touch I can back up an app and all of its data and share it by email, dropbox, whatever to another device. I've used that feature countless times. Also, when a developer makes a new version of an app and you update, but the new version turns out to suck (and you don't have the Play Store option to uninstall the update), you can just use Titanium to roll back to your previous version, provided that you made a backup (which is super easy).

My N7 got some pretty nice scratches on the screen. I called google and they sent out a replacement in about 5 minutes. I think I'll root the next one.

Why did they send you a new one? You can't take care of your device so they give you a new one?
