Default stupid noob tire question

im looking to upgrade to 17 in rims and tires, so im not sure what size tire i am supposed to get, tirerack seems to recommend 225 size tires with all the 17 in rims i looked at but i see a lot of people saying they run 215? is there a difference, will they both work fine? i dont know if it matters but the rims im looking at are prodrive p7, enkei rpm2, adr g-sport and adr m-sport. thanks for any help.

225 is fine if you have a sedan... on a lowered wagon 215 is the way to go so there isnt rubbing
