Thumbs up Did Okay At Subaru Challenge...

Well, I think I managed to put in a pretty good showing for us Legacy guys. I placed 3rd in STS, out of 14. Got a nice trophy, an STi mug, two t-shirts (with a third one being made for my 3rd place finish as a prize), an STi hat, and a rally poster. All in all, a pretty good deal. The event was a blast! Very well organized, with a record breaking turnout for largest number of Subaru's gathered for a meet. (I'm assuming North America.) I managed to make it to the 'sweet sixteen' round of the Super Challenge, before I was eliminated. So I suppose that means the Legacy placed in the top 16, based on PAX times. Pretty cool, huh? All that, and a big hairy tire-smoking spin to top it off. (Don't lift, don't lift, don't lift...AAAAHHHH!!!)

There seems to be a fairly large group of newer Subaru fans, due to the popularity of the WRX. They all seemed to be very impressed with the styling and speed of the Legacy. I had several comment on how much they'd like to find a nice 5 speed Legacy. I told them that there have been several on the Forums lately, and to come check it out.

It was a really good time, and I'm glad I got to go. If there's one relatively close to you, I would highly recommend making the trip. It was about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive each way for me, and I'll do it again if I get the chance.

In the regular portion of the event, my best time was a 60.9xx. Our class winnner ran a 59.2xx (I think). Second place got a 60.4xx. I had a pretty good shot at second on my final run, then blew it with a spin. With a good driver in the car, it's got at least another full 1 second in it. That's been proven twice when I've let someone else drive the car locally (national caliber drivers).

FTD was like a 55.xxx, run by 'Conebasher'- the bright yellow highly modified Cobb Tuned WRX. It's the one that's been in the magazines. Sport Compact Car for sure, because they wrecked it during some testing either late last year or earlier this year. They've got pics of it on the inside back cover of the most recent issue, just for grins.

I'll post a link to results when they are up.

They're having a little trouble deciphering the Super Challenge info from raceday and getting into bracket format. Not sure what the problem is, but I know it was kind of a busy time of the event. I'm not sure if someone had the pairings written down on scrap paper or what. That's okay, it was a great event. I appreciate all those guys that put all the work into it.
