nice! I like seeing the different styles being expressed in a relatively simple shot.

Tried something different with the second shot, I don't think I like it, but wanted to see what people thought.

the background is throwing me. too in focus/sharp for a shot taken so close.

watch that fence on the top shot, when you are setting up a shot look for distracting things like the fence running through the roof line. The car is so close to the building that both are pretty clearly in focus so the car kinda gets lost in the scene. If you have a zoom with a standard 3.4 to 5.6 aperture then try bringing the car away from the background that will help in getting some seperateion between the subject and the building plus in that shot if you left the camera where it is it would bring the car up a bit and fill a bit more of the frame which i think would help. Still there is a fence there though, a ladder would help getting a different perspective or bringing the car closer and shooting low. Just some observations and .02

also i think the car is slightly crooked it's my OCD again sorry

sorry for not car related but i dont have anything new yet I did this shot for a work photo contest, I work at the level 1 trauma center in town and they have life flight. The photo had to embody the town so i didnt know where to go with it as I was informed of the contest 2 days before the deadline in the middle of my work week. Oh, and that chopper was taken 1.5 years ago with my old D5100 haha

Hope you don't mind me joining in on the game.

Honestly I like photoshop comparison challenges. I view it like a personality test and you can kind of get a feel of what goes on in people's heads visually. Plus sometimes you see something done that you've never thought of before.

I've always found that black cars are very hard to shoot for, to make look nice and pop if you will, without it looking too garbled if you know what I mean.

Honestly it was a challenge, and I still didn't like the outcome that I came up with. So for these I usually go with a basic grey gradient map, my personal little bandaid.

Went on a short camping trip this week. Watchman campground | Mt. Zion National Park, Utah. Snuck this photo in when I thought everyone was asleep. Lit with a small reading light and the moon. I was soon approached by some other campers who thought I was lurking to steal stuff 😂. It's a composite of 3 photos to get the light streaks out.

Nikon d800E | 14-24 2.8 lens | ISO 500 | 20 second exposure at 2.8

3 polarizations blended in PS.
50mm
f/2.0
ISO 100
1/6

I'm getting an 85 1.8 within the next month or two, unless I find a good deal on a used one. The D is much cheaper, but I think I'm just gonna get the G (unless you guys think otherwise?).

The G has better glass so it will have better contrast and sharpness, plus silent wave motor. If you can swing it go for it.

That's a great shot. You're still improving each time! Maybe make the car pop a tad more.

Hows this one?
Got the free trial of light room, seriously considering the plan for it.
I cant seem to get rid of the little blue finger thing in the corner by the spoiler successfully though....

I was also playing around with some of the developing features. I was able to turn a bland washed out photo in a colorful one. It looks a bit meh, so I wont post it....but it sure it quite something else what a person can do with a photo. I always used to think you had to take them that way.

Sounds like the G is definitely worth the extra money then.

Thanks!

I usually brush over the car a little...but since it's red I feel like it sticks out already, and I don't want to go too far with the adjustments. I'll try to adjust a bit more next time and see how they look.

^ Awesome shot. He needs to bake/paint those headlights badly. Hate the lack of contrast.

Seems a little soft to me and the blacks seem too dark.

45th Anniversary Edition Camaro.

Had less than 10 minutes before the cops showed up to park, setup and shoot.

Thanks. Funny you mention the lights because I started messing with that recently, done like 3 cars so far and it's pretty easy lol. He asked me about it, but also wanted a demon eye and I don't mess with wiring, yet.. ha

Looks focused to me, the car at least. True about the darkness, but it's just how I liked it when I was messing with the pic

Here's another. The tail lights are out of focus, but I was at 2.8. Blame the lens and my eye both.
