Just heard the most offensive radio commercial ever....
NOTE: No need for this thread to turn into a discussion of the situation of the current US Automakers....plenty of those thread already. This is about a locally run car dealership commercial.
CN's: Local car dealership runs radio commercial questioning import owners patriotism. EDIT: GOT IT RECORDED! 281KB *.WAV file Now I think we can all agree that usually local car dealer radio commercials are among the most irritating and overplayed ones in any local market. Generally we just tune them out. But this weekend I've heard a new one from the local Ford dealer I can't believe the owner (OC Welch) had the stupidity to run. Basically it ridicules the government for asking the automakers to present their recovery plans before providing any financial assistance. Then it directly accuses import buyers of being un-American and questions their patriotism. I'm astonished at the ignorance. Two direct quotes from the commercial: All you import buyers don't come crying to me when you can't make your Toyota payment because you lost your job. And the last line of the commercial..... When are you import buyers gonna wake up and do something for the United States of America? After owning nothing but imports (and being delighted with every one of them!) for the last 20 years, we just bought our first domestic vehicle ever about 18 months ago with high hopes. It's already had two serious recalls. I've got a list of six things (all quality related) that need to be fixed. I didn't really need another reason not to buy another domestic vehicle, but hearing this commercial has just guaranteed I'll *never* purchase one from any of those dealerships.

Where is this dealership located? I would gladly come and pay him a visit and punch him square in the mouth for 30% off mark up on a used car he sells.

I bet they will pay off your trade no matter what you owe. Also let me guess they also accept all credit applications.
Who cares??? Lots of dealerships both domestic and imports are full of douches. Avoid them at all costs. |

Those quotes remind me of when Howard Stern used to play clips from KKK Daniel Carver's voicemails......"Wake up, white people!"

I heard a similar one in Phoenix the other morning. I think it was from Pioneer Ford, but I cannot seem to find it on the net. The logic used and conclusions drawn in the commercial were full retard.

My biggest concern is that this sort of thing has a tendency to encourage vandalism on import cars, etc.

Actually, that's the typical one. This particular commercial makes no such mention of their products, their ability to lend, or anything else. It' is merely an attack on import car and their buyers. |

dont they realize we are doing something for america? we are buying cars like Toyota built here in the USA. Its not my fault that the US auto makers have put out complete **** for the past 30 years. news flash...I would never buy a monte carlo for $32,000 when I could buy a C class Benz, a Leg GT or something along those lines.

Not quite.
Many Hondas and Toyotas are indeed assembled in the US, but not all of them, and much of the engineering/design is done back in Japan, as are many of the parts that are used to assemble those cars. BMW and Mercedes have one or 2 plants here in the US and those I believe only make their SUV models. Kia (which is owned by Hyundia) has one (?) plant in the US with most of their models coming from Korea. Of course on the flip side, the Focus and Fusion are made in Mexico and many Chryslers are made in Canada (as well as other models). When it comes down to it, the US jobs created by the foreign carmakers are MUCH appreciated, still though, the Detroit automakers employ many times more people in the US than any one else. Concerning this commercial, someone should drive a Ford F250 into that douche's showroom. |

Well my lifted 07 tundra gets 16-18 mpg and I am in love with that 5.7 V8. thats about as close to a V8 as ill get.
My Inlaws hate that I drive " Imports ". They all have chevy trucks and raise bucking bulls so they are way redneck. The funny thing about it is that my mother inlaw drives a 745li. yeah thats not american. lol |

Both of my Subarus were made here in the US. Up until recently, just purchasing a Subaru put some money in GM's pockets without them having to do a damn thing.
