Does anyone have a tow hook and wouldn't mind posting a picture of their car with one. I'm thinking about getting one. Opinions?

HELP!! In the last few days I have noticed a bad smell coming from my car. Can't tell where it's coming from, but it smells like oil or some sort of burning but I can't put my finger on it. The car also was idling oddly and seemed like it almost died on me ( I have 4eat) and that has never happened to me before. I will be checking my oil tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas? Gasket? Oil? I just recently hit 72,000mi.

Oil smell from vents usually means head gasket failure. But then again its a subie theres always weird smells and sounds. Take it to your dealer or local mechanic. Or check it yourself!

Does anyone else have the issue of the lights from the RPMs at night, leaking into the check engine light and it looks like the check engine light is faintly lit?

The other stuff sounds similar to my car at 110,000 miles with like 10k on the oil and after changing the plugs, fluids, oil filter, cleaning the air filter, and cleaning the maf the car ran fine. |

That could lead to filter oil on your MAF, which could lead to all kinds of bad things.
I would stop running that filter. I did. BTW I also got a lot better mileage with stock wheels and tires on highway especially.. Now with 17x8 wheels and 225-45-17 tires, and big fat RA mudflaps, my highway MPG had suffered quite a bit actually. It is worth it to me.. it is just a few MPG and I don't do tons of highway driving, and when I do, if I want better mileage, I just go slower (I never do though). I know you said you are comparing MPG to after you already had wheels and whatnot.. but maybe it could bea summer gas/ winter gas thing too? Also I put some fuel system treatment in once or twice a year, that helps actually. New paper filter after cleaning MAF might be only way to check to see if that is the problem really. Quote:

Then after topping that off, I never lost another drop, plus I don't get that smell much anymore, if ever. I just climbed a steep hill a few days ago, the same one where I have noticed that smell before, and I didn't smell anything at all. I think I will have everything checked thoroughly before my warranty runs out in a couple years, but I think my car is fine. maybe a seal was leaking a little and after many temperature cycles it fixed itself? Not sure. Last edited by BWX; 04-07-2014 at 10:08 PM. |

I got my 07 2.5i and I posted this in the interior mods thread but I thought id come straight to the best source for an answer on a 2.5i. Anyone have any helpful tips and tricks to remove the parts of the dash of the 07 2.5i? The thread is in this link. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2618392
Any help would be cool. I am working on changing the interior paint scheme to green silver and black. If you have painted your dash or have some tricks let me know and show me a picture. Maybe I'll get some other ideas. Thanks for your help. I'll be looking forward to it. Btw I'll make sure I post my 2.5i up when she is done. |

Everything literally pops out. The side vents pop out. The radio trim first unscrews, then pops out. Gentle but firm pull.

Yea it all comes out pretty easy. Avoid using anything like a screwdriver as it may leave marks. Tools like panel pullers are ideal if you have them.

Anyone on here put a rear sway bar on their 08+ Impreza? I picked up a stock wrx sway bar and end links and spend 5 seconds under the car. The endlink didnt easily slip into the rear lateral link. Wondering if I ended up with wrong part or if its supposed to be snug. Ill get under for a real go this weekend. Just looking for a heads up.

I installed a rear sway on my '11 Outback Sport. I had no issues with the install. Mine is from RalliTek and has the RalliTek endlinks. |

I had no issue installing my rsb. Just make sure it's oriented correctly and you're using the right holes. Look at pictures for confirmation. Easy mistake to make.

It took a while, mostly because I have a bad back and had to take frequent breaks, but I remember installing the brackets for the swaybar, then the end-links to the lower control arms. Then made sure everything was lined up and lubed, and installed the bar itself, then the left side end-link to the swaybar, then the last one on the passenger side was the hardest part, because I had to put some pressure on it and start the nut at the same time. After I caught a few threads it worked fine though. If you leave everything a little loose until it is all connected, that helps. You can back the nuts off on the brackets and that gives you a little more wiggle room until the endlinks are connected up. |
