Just out of curiosity what does everyone think a complete set of low mileage 04 STI struts would go for? Low mileage being under 20k. No clunking at all. Only issue is the smallest amount of rust starting to show at the clevis.

I had another great experience with Moore Subaru of Richmond though, you know that useless part guy behind the counter? Blake ....well I'm surprised he still has a job or can find his ass to wipe it. I went to get a flywheel from there and asked him for a 2006 wrx flywheel, well his dumb ass ordered a regular impreza flywheel, which I didn't know till I tried to install it, tried to take it back and he was swaring that I ordered it, like every idiot that made a mistake. But they wouldnt take it back for about 30 minutes, then charged me a $70 restocking fee when they finally ordered me the right one, which I had to supply the part number. I hate SOR
Clayton had a hard time with them trying to get a new spindle and hub assembly. And he dealt with a guy named Blake.

Pence wasn't much better in the past when I dealt with them. Speaking of 4+ years ago though. Best luck is had if you are 100% sure you have the right part number and just tell them to order it.

Haven't posted in here in a long while....been busy as hell with work.

Little update on my car...its currently being looked at by an insurance adjuster. On my way to Myrtle Beach, an old man in an SUV pulled right out in front of me. Thank god Subaru gave us a set of monster Brembos, I was able to slam the brakes and almost completely miss him. But the driver's side corner of my car barely caught his back bumper. The damage is barely noticeable to anyone except me lol. The headlight is scratched pretty bad, and some tabs on the bumper got broken. The clear bra saved the bumper from actually getting scratched at all, but the entire clear bra will have to be replaced.

My insurance agent said keep a record of all mods. Both receipts and pics. My mods are worth money if the car is ever totalled.

I refuse to use Subaru of Richmond because of hearing things like this. At the same time we all make mistakes and they should own up to them. I buy my parts from Pence because of the Nasioc discount plus I still have a good report with them after I left. Also I have a few Subaru customers that still bring their outbacks to me at our dealership for maintenance and work and Pence did forget to send me a control arm, but made up for the mistake. It is all how you handle it after the fact and the fact is I rather drive twice as far to get stuff done.

Yea I just like how I had to go there twice, then had to argue with him cause he is that stupid and believes he can't make a mistake. Once i get back to town and i can go there im going to talk to the owner of SOR and tell him all about the **** work they did on my sti, and this problem that cost me $70 that wasn't eve my fault. Funny how it was just a fuel pump that was wrong with my sti, after all that, the master subaru tech isn't smart enough to figure that out.

Have you asked Pence about the Nasioc discount that they offer? I have been looking at prices on parts and with the discount Pence comes out about the same even with SGP.com. Pence also does not charge you shipping unless you want it overnighted. They just put it in with the stock order that comes twice a week.

Account for Nasioc is 980COD I use it every time I go there. I've never had a bad experience at Pence for parts, but I always have the part numbers of the items I want.

I've bought a car from both locations and had a better experience with that from Moore, when I bought one from Pence the sales guy was great but the finance guy was a joke. He thought insulting customers was a good thing.

I've actually gone to Pence in the past with a VIN# and still had the wrong part ordered. Well it was the right part just for the wrong year and it didn't work for me. They did take it back though and order the correct one and I only paid for the right part so I guess I can't really complain. I never knew Pence had a NASIOC discount. That's nice to know.

Anyone know of a really good machine shop in the Richmond area? I don't care if they are a little pricey. I want absolute best quality.

I'm picking up the parts to covert my front knuckles/hubs to the 05+ so I've got the better bearings. I'd need someone to take the 05 knuckles and fill in the top strut hole and then re-drill it to match the WRX or 04 STI struts. The total width of that upper part needs to be machined a little more narrow. That's if I want to keep my 04 struts. I might just buy 05+ suspension and make my life easier.

The other thing I might need is someone to take the 05 hub and redrill it for 5x100 and then machine down the total diameter of the hub.

LIC Motorsports sells everything I need to make it real simple but it's pretty darn expensive. I have a set of 05 knuckles/hubs/bearings on the way and I'm wondering if I should try to get some of it done locally or just buy some a shop that I know has done it right. Only plus to getting the LIC stuff is all the parts are 0 mileage new parts.

For reference their front knuckles which are new OEM parts modified go for $1000. The knuckles themselves are only about $300 for the pair so they want $700 for the machine work (and I suppose to cover a little initial R&D cost). I realize they have a business to run but that seems awfully hefty to me. R&D should have been rather simple and there is no way the machine work costs that much.

Pence parts knows me by name and simply adds the discount. Never rcvd the wrong part but I research to make simple as possible (drivtrain and motor do not match vin) for all involved.

I've used napa machine shop at boulevard location...tehy do just about anything and have a big room full of machine tools.

Not going to CnC - it's their anniversary and t shirts bumber stickers available. Going to altoona, pa this weekend so going to a local meet, nice coincidence.

Yeah, all you have to do is mention you are with Nasioc. Some people know and some do not when I was their Service Advisor, I would let people know about the discount. Sometimes I would order the parts for them and just tell parts to include the discount.

I have rarely ran into a Finance Manager that wasn't insulting and I work in the business.

Skip it and wait until you've got 95-96k on it and then go to IAG for the 105k maintenace

How much do they charge for just a timing belt change?(including new pulleys and water pump).

^I don't remember exactly but I thought their price for 105k service was very fair and I'd definitely let them do it.

As of now I'm planning to go to C&C on Saturday. Haven't been to one in quite a while and now that I'm back in a Subaru I need to get back up to speed on who the locals are.

What's everyone's current favorite tint place around Richmond? And is VA legal still 50 front/35 rear?

I've never actually tinted windows on any car I've owned but I'm thinking about doing the STI in the near future. I'd like to do my wife's CRV as well.
