Default Should I get the STi Suspension from Factory?

I'm getting the car ordered (hopefully) on Thurs. I had my 2nd test drive yesterday and I'm extrememly happy with the car. The numbers need to be worked on a bit but so far so good. I have a guy at Hillside Automall whos willing to get me the accesories bought at cost and not retail. The entire STi Package should run me about $1500-$1800 (from what I saw at the other dealership I went to.). Is this worth it? Will I see that much of a dfference in the capability of the car? Is the stock (or non-STi) suspension just as good or is there somehting I'm missing?

PLEASE HELP!

Since Subaru won't warranty them and you can find some better performing sets from likes of Leda, DMS. They will be full coil-over types, which will allow you adjust ride height and get your car corner balanced to name a few benefits.

Holy cow $1500-$1800???!!! No way. You can get many suspensions that are MUCH better for not much more than that. I say save your money and upgrade with a nice aftermarket suspension. Tein, Cusco, and DMS seem to be the favorites.

MUCH better?

how so exactly?

what does 'better' mean?

making a car handle 'well' depends highly on what you want it to do exactly....

Go to www.subaruparts.com They have the whole kit for much less, and you can choose the parts you want... IE you dont really need the aluminum A-arms that much, since they can actually damage your chasis due to their stiffness and arent much lighter (like half a lbs) and just get the Struts/Springs or just the front sway with bushings (which is actually smaller than stock)

I'd just get the struts/springs, and thats actually a decent price.

Better as in you get selectable spring rate (dual springs usually), short stroke shock (inverted if you have the budget), adjustable dampening on the shock, pillow ball mounts, etc. . .
There's just no comparison I think.

Some people dont want all that fuss and just want a stiffer car without the lowering, adjusting, etc.

Not me though, especially after riding in Deliciouspeeds car with the Cusco coilovers

I guess for what I'm going to do with the car, I just wanted the best suspension for everyday driving and common (2-3 times a month) trips to the track and/or AutoX Solo's.

Thanx for the info on the sway bar damaging the chasis! It's a lease which I plan to trade in for the nwe STi or WRX of the year when it is over. Sinse I'm in Real Estate, it's actually a better financial decision to lease. I really would like coil's (if they have inverted that would be tight!) and a sway from a top-notch aftermarket company. Until now I've been a big Mitsu JDM aftermarket fan because I used to help my friend out who hasn a 91 GSX with a lancer motor, roll cage, no a/c, and lots more with 480 hp [408 bhp], 475 lbs. torque. So until now I havent heard many of these companies, such as Cusco. But I will take your advice on most of these subjects considering you guys are all damm near experts and I am a lowley fake thug from Newark NJ! j/k

If there is any advice you could ive me as to the "just right" suspension tune for me, I would appreciate it. ALso I'm looking for a drop, not much but just enough to pronounce the body a bit more. I'm not talking about the Honduh style 4 1/2 inch SLAMMED civic stuff, I mean just enough not to get negative chamber damage. KNOW WHAT I MEAN??

I would go with the STI suspension from subaruparts.com also. They seem to have the best pricing on factory parts.
