I honestly would wait for a 2014 if I wanted an STi as well. It is worth it when you will probably have details and be able to order one early next Fall if not maybe slightly before.

Hey guys are spherical end links stu legal? Because I've seen some guys run it and get no trouble, I don't want to run it in nationals and some guy says I'm in the wrong class or I'm cheating.

^^True indeed. I believe all hoses must still connect to the turbo inlet and cannot be combined. Basically meaning you must use a turbo inlet that has the same amount of spigots that are on the stock one. I believe the only turbo inlets that do this are the Samco and new Perrin design.

Please explain. I'm not sure what modification you're talking about. I'm talking about replacing the piece of pipe directly after your intake pipe that connects to the air filter/airbox.

If someone wants to contest you for doing something like tee-ing up some vaccuum/pcv lines, send them to me and I'll have a word with them. That **** is ridiculous. I would never ever know to look for something like that let alone give someone **** for it.

It shouldn't be a big problem. The Perrin inlet is a nice piece and should be completely legal. I'd suggest it for its ease of install over other brands as well (this is only from what I have been told).

That's the one I was looking at, but still on the fence about an inlet. Has anyone seen a back to back dyno chart with an inlet vs. stock?

To argue your topic, there is no information if the 2014 will be a new engine, or if it will be the same. I'd imagine if there was major changes for the 2014 year, it would likely be out in the next month. Also, if you are wanting to play in STU, you should basically plan on your warranty going right out the window, so just buy what you like the best. |

It makes power...period! Its been dyno proven that a turbo inlet reduces spool time by 250-400rpm. I believe Perrin has dyno curves on their site. Check for Josh's build page aswell he posted some dyno curves for his car STU car.

http://www.airpowersystems.com/wrx/i...01_install.pdf In that procedure they modify the fuel lines and hoses as well. Technically not STU legal. *Rant On* Not to derail the thread, but I think that at the National level, yes everyone respects the rules. Locally, I have my suspicions, and those suspicions are shared by a number of people. But if somebody needs to cheat to get a $5 chit or ugly regional championship jacket, I can only pity that person. The problem is that it is basically impossible to police that stuff at a local level. Who is going to pay to tear down a motor? We can't check for electronically altered boost at nats, how can a region do it? Sorry. *Rant Off* |

I worry about it least at the local level due to the fact that even if someone is cheating they are most likely a n00b or simply not competitive in the first place. But I see where you are coming from. I maybe don't take it as seriously as some other people even though I do enjoy to win and be competitive in a fairly humble manner.

Why doesn't anyone have an 07 STI? I remember seeing the 06 was the ticket, but don't remember why...
Edit: Found it randomly, Torsen LSD... |

Has anyone tried out the Dunlop ZII on their STU car yet?
Tire Rack claims "one potential weakness of the Z1 Star Spec, where the rear can get out of phase with the front, resulting in some transitional oversteer if not driven smoothly". TR says the ZII is better. I've noticed my car gets super twitchy on decreasing length slaloms. Can anyone confirm if the ZII improves this on an STU car? |

I don't think they've even shipped the first batch yet.

But a car being twitchy in decreasing length slaloms sounds pretty normal to me. I don't think that's a tire problem. |

Had my zIIs preordered last month, agreed don't expect to see any til mid march.
Twitchy in decreasing length slalom = can be tamed with driving style and/or left foot braking. IMHO. |
