Modding a Legacy Turbo To get 13 sec 1/4 mile?
I got a legacy turbo recently, and want to modify it to get low 13's high 12's on the 1/4 mile strip. Heres what I'm thinking of doing:
*3" Turbo back exhaust *will do for sure *93-96 WRX TMIC Water Injection *Raise the boost (don't know how much yet) *bypass Fuel cut and boost cut (any suggestions on how to?) Possibly aftermarket ECU Does this sound right, will these mods get me to low 13's? any other suggetions? Thanks, Mark

Search for "FCD" or "Fuel cut defender" on the internet and you'll find the circuit plan to build one !

You didn't state what tranny you are running. If it's one of ths sti 4.44 ones then sure, with these mods you might hit lower 13's. With an auto or the stock 5mt forget it.
A wrx at stage 0 ( about 276 crank) in a wrx will do something like 13.6-9's pretty consistantly...at least from what i've read. You also have to take in consideration your elevation. If you're a mile high then you're going to need a lot to go that fast. I would recommend the old school wrx tdo5 with tmic. Crank up the boost to a safe level and get a computer. I'd also reccomend a good clutch with a lighter weight flywheel. Exhuast is very critical on a turbo so don't skimp here. Other than that maybe injectors and an intake mod/ fuel pump upgrade. Brent |

Why is it that the stock 5MT couldn't do it?

the stock 5spd legacy turbo tranny is very good and strong enough to handle a good amount of power versus stock 160hp. I do second the advice on getting a new clutch and flywheel.
