question about TWE cams and raising rev limit on 99 2.5 RS...
I have a few questions regarding the TWE Stage II SOHC Cams for my 99 2.5 RS Impreza.
1. If i purchase these cams and the spring and retainer kit, can my engines rev limit be raised, or are these cams designed to be used within the stock redline ? 2. Would my car make useable power above my stock redline if i purchased these products ? 3. If yes, how much higher in the rev limit should I go ?

I agree. All I have on my car now is a CAI and a Cat Back ,and the first gear goes by in a flash too. I have a light weight pulley sitting around too now, meaning its only gonna get faster when I put that on too. Upping the rev limit to about 7000 would be real nice if it can be done with these cams / springs/ retainers. I just dont want to mess things up lol

From the dyno charts people have posted in the past...the stage II cams will make more power past the stock limit. You should be okay upping the limit. Talk to TWE...they know their products very well and subarus in general.

the cams themselves will make more power above the stock rpm limit, but the springs/retainers allow for the increase. The retainers are lighter, and the springs are stiffer. without the springs/retainers, I wouldn't explore a higher rev limit. I personally have noticed a significant increase in power delivery all the way to redline, and I know for certain that there is much more power to be had above the rev limit. (granted I have the headwork done also)

I wont be doing any head work. But I would not even buy the cams without their retainer kit. So basically Boost Free, do you think that if I buy their kit that I could raise to 7000 rpm without any other problems or required parts ?

lol I wouldnt risk it. Even though I dont know how tough the stock springs are, I'd rather invest the dough and have some peice of mind that when i stick it nothing will break.
