Hey Kosai, I saw you! (you know the drill, "not subie!")
Ok, well, I assume it was you, I mean how many Yellow ITRs are there in the area... I was the guy crossing Brooklyn in the U-District at about 8:15am rubber-necking your car.
Yeah... that is the only car that could ever turn me to the Dark Side: a Yellow ITR. Hmm... I wonder if I could get my GT painted some bad-ass yellow color... maybe the GT-B bronze! A Back to your regularly scheduled Northwest Nonsense!

hello everyone, I'm the guy formally known as Kosai, I lost my password but I can't get it sent to me for some reason. So I just registered a new name. (I hope it doesn't make people mad)
By the way, nope that wasn't me in U-District area, I don't think I've ever taken my car to the U-District since I got it. If anyone wants to see a black Type R they have one in the showroom of Lynnwood Acura. ITR #1000 something I think. (Greg you should go take a look) |

I am currently the owner of Black ITR #0981
Kosai: evidently the ones you see in the showrooms right now are pretty much the last we're getting in the States. That's it, and next year -- new body style (eck, they are going to try move it into the same market as the Prelude, and no 'R' version, or so the rumor goes). Greg. |

Richard: hard to say so far, since it's only a day old. I need to break it in so I can really give a good comparison.
Feels awesome inside -- not much to look at from the outside though (I like it; it's stealthy until you notice the wing and the R badging). Build quality tops the Sube by quite a ways *so far*. I have to get used to the Honda control placement again since I haven't owned one in over two years now. Brake pedal feel is excellent. Initially I was braking too hard because I was used to my RS's mush-pedal. Clutch is also excellent, and the shifter feels close to perfect. The seats are better than stock RS but can't compare to my STi seats -- must do something about that eventually. The suspension just kicks ass; it soaks up bumps but feels very taught. The car is really stable at highway speeds -- steering feel is spot on, and the wheel itself is thick and grippy. I haven't had a chance to really test things out, but when you start pushing it, it feels more nimble than the RS and it tracks a VERY accurate line. The engine sounds amazing. I mean, without all that sound deading stuff you can REALLY hear everything that's going on. I drove my RS again afterwards and it was shockingly different. Driving the car in the rain was interesting as you can feel the LSD working hard to keep things on track. Honestly, it's better than I expected seeing as it's FWD; it shows what you can do with a front drive car if you put the effort into it. I'll be bringing the car to SIR on July 17th, so that will definitely be an interesting experience. If you want to check it out, give me a call or just drop me an email. It'll probably be til next weekend before the break-in period is over though. Anyway, bottom line is that I'm happy Greg. |

Greg: Congrads Greg!, I'm glad you're happy with it. So how does it compare to when you were driving my yellow one? j/k(I hope not much, except for the color, and how mine is dirty). Well as you know mine is #592. Maybe if you guys don't mind, if I can go meet you guys up at SiR in July, we can have both yellow and black there (I understand you guys are there for the track days). Or maybe at some autocrosses?

Akiata: Hmmmm, I do look kinda dumb, but well maybe we could ask Greg or Leon (STi066) if I do, not sure how dumb I look....but in the U-District wasn't me.

Didn't know that you were doing the Track day on 17th.. You do realise that it's a Subaru Day J/K I'm off to the UK tomorrow for two weeks. To go drive the 22 at a track day in Scotland. There'll be 8 22Bs, Evo's and elises plus loads of "other" stuff. Film @ 11 as they say major See you when I get back, with lots of video, pics etc. We'll have to have a get together Richard [This message has been edited by rsquire (edited April 22, 2000).] |

rsquire: I don't know if you've already left today or is it tomorrow...but did I see you near the "old" Kingdome area today? I just saw a yellow Del Sol with a body kit on it so I thought it might of been you.

Hrm, I guess down in the States you guys don't get the real Integra Type-R, 195HP, VTEC, blah blah blah. Is yours a 175 HP version? I know up here in Canada, they only come in 2 colors, originally it was only white, now they make the Type-R in yellow. Fast, really fast, I'd take a Type-R over a RS anytime. I had a 98 up to 180Km/h in 4th doing about 8000rpm's. Thats just my rant on the Type-R.

No, we get the 'real thing' with a slightly revised cam profile and different ECU setup. HP is 195, about the same as the JDM-spec. The 175hp deal is similar to what you see with an RS (only with much less of a difference due to no AWD drivetrain losses) when measuring HP to the wheels. I think that's where the confusion is.
We also don't get the JDM seats (argh), and our wheel/tire combination is different. Greg. |

Our Type Rs are more like the JDM Integra Type Rx, I heard, since the Rx has stereo and AC(I think AC)...and the fake carbon fiber stuff etc..(Rx still has the JDM seats though). The JDM Type Rs are more racing than the US spec or the Rx...they don't even have antennas.
I also heard the 195hp (US/North American spec) and 200hp(Japan spec) the difference has to do with something that Honda had to do for US emmissions. oh yeah Hucker, ours comes in Yellow and Black for 2000, in 1997-1998 models it was championship white only and we didn't get 1999 models but Canada did. Forgot about the Type-Rx in Japan. Yeah, we're very similar to those cars, but still with the same engine modifications I mentioned (and yes, I believe it's an emmissions thing, but I'm not sure...)
