Anyone in north dallas up for a range visit this weekend? I've been itching to go. Got a virgin AR that needs some action. I guess really I just need someone to drive me to the hospital in case it blows up.

Which range? I will be heading to Target Masters at some point this weekend with a couple friends for my first range visit in TX.

Anyone shoot at Quail Creek that is versed in sighting a Remmy700?

I think I need a more powerful scope on it. Not sure the power but it is not zoomed in to much even at just 75 yards. Plus I know it is off a bit.

I could be convinced to go to Top Gun in Leonard on Saturday afternoon (I have an appt at Cobb in the morning) and can bring the spotting scope to help sight in. If not there then somewhere with 200+ yards available on Sunday?

There are probably a few of us here that could help you. Never shot at quail creek tho. Just arrange to come out with some of us.

Sorry about not replying to this earlier. I had a happy hour last night that ended up lasting past 4am. Wicked hangover all day so no range for me today. Not sure about 200+ yds on sunday, but I can look around for a few places.

Gibson's has 200 yards but I know a few people here don't get along with their staff. I'm still on good terms with them but I've been using Top Gun since July now. I was having issues with my .300 WM at 200 last weekend and I want another try before bringing it to the smith to scope the bore. I also wanted to verify the data I got on the .308 last week; I think I had windage dialed in.

Yep, I drove you out there in July.

Not a huge fan of gibsons personally, but I haven't had any altercations with the son out there myself.

I ended up reloading instead of shooting. While I put together 100 more rounds of 175gr SMK for the .308 I made a mistake trimming 50 cases for some subsonic loads. I picked up some 180gr Spitzer GameKings that I think might stabilize at SS and also to run as hunting loads for the .300 WM. Unfortunately I trimmed before neck sizing and that pulls the neck out a few thousandths so I got frustrated and gave up. I prefer the .300 WM and not having to trim every time, though it does result in a helluva lot of freebore in front of that pill

Ya, I nursed a hangover plus food poisoning this weekend so none for me either. Next weekend looks good so far tho. I've got about 80 rounds of 168s I need to finish off before I switch to 175s. Then a trip out to badlands to re-zero and work the dope out to 1000.

Not a gun, but I picked up a Microtech Halo III recently. Wanted one of these for years and while the Microtech Ultratech I have is nice, this is much nicer. It's not one of those 'been used once and put away' knifes which is good because I wouldn't want to use it if it was perfect! I plan to use it to kill lots of mail that comes my way when I'm over in Afghanistan.

Hey guys this is my first post around here, joined a few seconds ago .

My kimber, sig, and noveske sbr with silencer. Took forever to get the stamps but it was worth it . Also I know there aren't sights on it, this was a picture when I first got it. We would just quick detach my friends aim point and use it.. Shot pretty true

Unfortunately I can't this weekend. Next week is going to be busy and I've only got the next two days to get some personal errands done

Well, it was a pretty good day out at top gun. Breeze felt good, but it was acting pretty crazy downrange. 15-18mph with gusts up to 30+. Made things fun. Still shot 5 3" groups at 500. Decided not to shoot the AR. If anyone wants to join me one of these weekends let me know. It's a lot easier with 2 so you can spot for each other.

I'm usually game as long as I have ammo made up at the time. I do need to find a better, more stable tripod for my spotting scope because it gets too twitchy at 60x.

I've been thinking about having a steel silhouette made. Last time I was at Top Gun there was a guy with his own that he set up between 200 and 300 yards. Since I can't shoot steel at anything other than 500 there with the cannon I thought it might be nice to have my own to shoot at whatever range I wanted, and have it all to myself. What should the size be? Which type of steel and how thick? Any recommendations on a metal shop that would do it?

Confirmed the optic settings on my Ruger Hawkeye 338 Federal yesterday. Also had some fun with the AR-10, confirmed the CZ PCR pistol works great after a trip to the smith. And also had some fun with some rapid fire slugs with the Benelli m1s90
Now to clean everything..

I need to remember to multiquote, but anyway... 20x40 is a standard size. I'm surprised he lets people shoot steel that close. Would you really want to set up something like that short of 500? I mean it's trivial to hit it even at 500, and if you want to measure groups paper would be better. I love steel because it's easy to tell hits without a spotter, and the sound is so rewarding.

I saw something on youtube the other day that explained the steel used... I'll see if I can find it and let you know.

I'm down. I used to put my .308's down 1200 yd but I guess 500 yd will have to do. I haven't shot it in a while so I"ll be quite rusty (I know the gun is). Let me know when you want to go.
