Hmm. So with the foam backing, would it be best bet to use it on seats only? That's mainly what I wanted it for. How thick is the foam? And is the price the same as the alcantara and sold by the yard?

Jason,

I was reading your build thread and found a link to this and had to stop reading it to read this. your would is great and makes the dash look so much better then OEM. Because of you and Robb I think i am going to try to do my swoop, the upper part of the dash, and the center console. I would like to know can you get then complete top of the dash with the gauge bezel done with 1 yard of black? the rest i think i am going to do in Grey.

thanks

Hi Auto,

The top dash can be wrapped with one full yard of material. If you mold the pod like Robb's was, one yard of Alcantara Panel will stretch over with maybe a 1/2" to spare on each side. If you wrap the pod and dash separately like mine, you should have a larger margin of error on the sides for remaining material.
If you plan on stitching, you will need to use Alcantara cover which doesn't stretch so you'll need more then one yard.

Hope that helps!

Jason,

What I was planing is doing the stock dash and the gauge cluster hood in black. I do not have the gauge pod that you and robb have. I plan or hope to get you or JPM to do a smy cluster later on to match what i am planning. so i will be fine with 1 yard to do the dash and gauge cluster hood?

Thanks
Auto

this is amazing work!!!

any chance you could make a 'stitch on' alcantara (dark grey is possible) wrap for 2006 wrx wagon steering wheel? the hard plastic is really not my thing.

Thanks again Jason for the inspiration. (And for selling the Alcantara..) Here's my custom STi console. I had a friend rapid prototype me a tray, then cut a Subaru coaster (OEM part, lol) to line it with. Used bondo to seal it all before wrapping.

This is crazy! I plan to do several parts myself, but the difficult ones I'll just purchase...
I assume this process is irreversable, correct? I may be buying seperate parts in that case... Or else just go all in haha.

@D S WRX, Thanks for posting those picks, I was really curious to what just the alcantara trim looks like, because I'm too poor / scared to do entire front dash also what color did you choose for that trim? looks good, I probably will use that color

Also to original poster, did you swap your console for the STI console?
