Default Downpipe Install - > Torque Settings for Downpipe Bolts?

Gonna install my Invidia V3 DP soon, are there any specific torque settings for the DP->Turbo bolts?

Thanks!

I searched but didn't find very much, all i could find was the other use of torque!

um...tight.

all exhaust bolts for the header and uppipe are 27ft-lbs, so that seems like a good number for the downpipe bolts too.

Could call Invidia's US office or even Subaru and see how much they tq the stock bolts.

27ft-lbs is weak. i used that when i installed my downpipe and was getting exhaust leak. Torque MUST be at least 140-150lbs.

yes. as a matter of fact, i invented the downpipe. if it wasn't for me, your cars wouldn't have downpipes. to the OP, just shoot for 200ft-lbs and you'll be fine.

your kidding, right? 150 lbs will probably come very close to stripping those things right off. 26 pounds is factory, go to 30-35 if you feel like being a little on the safe side. More importantly, use a new gasket and tighten progressively on all bolts!

Dude....shutup.

Request for ban.

OP: The proper specs are 26 ft/lbs and I would suggest using new gaskets. Getting the bolts off...that will feel like 200 ft/lbs.

Yeah those torque specs are pretty damn low. I notice the STI manual show slightly higher value for some of them over the 02 WRX manual.

So, you're suggesting 2-3 ft/lbs over spec?

...well...the FSM specs seem to be for 'new' fasteners.....used fasteners do not torque the same as new.....so a bit nore torque may be necessary.....and/or re-torquing after a few heat cycles

Those specs are from my 2005 Impreza service manual...and yes, both the WRX and STi torque specs are the same. I wouldn't post WRX specs in a thread that is asking about the STi.
