It's badass, I love it! I miss having traction though. AWD >* especially when you start making power.

Yeah my wife has a 325 that makes very little power. But the traction control come on all the time. It is a nice handling car though. Seems really balanced.

Exactly my thoughts. At the time I counted there were maybe 17 or so evos and subarus going.
Would be neat to do a drive from castrovill down 471 to park road 37 to i10.

I'm all fine for doing a drive sometime, but i'd rather it not be 30+ of us.. Its really difficult and risky to pull that off..
It only takes one person to get everyone in trouble.

I haven't been on a drive in many years. But most of our went without incident back in the day.

I think Nathan is the only one who ever got a ticket. And that was in his way home.

Vic did crash into a tree however.

Other than those two incidents I cannot think of anything bad happening.

The price difference wasn't significant enough at the time to be any better. I haven't checked recently though, but I bet its the same.

At lunch I'll go drive by the Valero and see what the price of 93 is compared to e85. Last I checked it was less than $1.00 difference.
So I never got those prices.. I did today..

Valero @ 1604/Culebra

93 oct 3.44/gallon
E85 3.04/gallon

Assume you're getting 20 mpg over 14 gallons on 93 octane = 280 miles
28% less fuel economy on the e85 is 14.4 so 14.4*14=201.6

Your results may vary, but this is just to give you an idea.

Exactly. Just don't be the first or the last car and you can't get stopped or clocked.
Back when we drove home from the NASIOC state meet in DFW, we drove 95 the whole way (again, be the middle car). No tickets.

Yeah.. it's 102 cars now. I'm all for a hill country drive with upwards of 40 cars but even that count is starting to get tricky. You have to have organized leaders to be able to keep things safe and fun.

With a variety of vehicles/personalities and only one leader - it can easily end up having one too many cocky idiots that think they know better or think the group is going too slow and start acting like jerks putting other cars in jeopardy. Not realizing that with so many vehicles and driver skill levels, its better to leave wide gaps between those you don't know so that if one bites it, hopefully you won't as well.

Not all of those vehicles handle the curvy hill country well and I doubt all of the drivers are cautious and knowledgeable about their vehicle's ability.

I don't worry about the cops/speeding tickets so much as the attitudes driving in the group. Small groups help you control that problem much easier.

The only plus I see in this event is getting to meet so many people and hang out a bit. If this was clearly defined as a relaxing "enjoy the scenery" cruise, I'd be less concerned.

Does anyone have access to an alignment machine? I just put on my prodrive blues with some camber bolts and it looks 1000 times better, but I do need an alignment. No more suv status

I really hate having other people touch my cars and I hate paying someone for something I can do (and have done hundreds of times before). I don't mind paying for the use of it if needed (money or beers), but I could really use a hook-up of that kind. I will be installing whiteline steering rack bushings and some ALK bushings soon (just found out while I was under there that the stockers are starting to leak) and probably some new struts come tax time. Both needing an alignment afterwards. LMK if you want to be my hook-up

Also, anyone have a stock 02-07 wrx sedan rear swaybar lying around their garage collecting dust? That puny stock one on my wagon has me picturing a dog lifting its leg to pee every time I go around a corner.

I'm pretty sure the wagon has a bigger swaybar than the sedan, but I believe we have a 05 Sti rear sway in the garage. Don't believe that fits the older WRX though.

From all the research I've done, the wagon has a 17mm, the sedan a 20mm and the sti mounts differently so it doesn't work. This info all comes from stickies I've been reading. There is a big thread about budget wagon suspension setups that I started reading and the #1 upgrade is the sedan rear sway.
