sorry guys, I didn't mean to excite you all, but I don't think they are actively engaged in their art while driving. they are only noticeable once they get out of the car and still have the clear bejazzled heals on.

Scion is supposed to be the edgy youth brand, but so far all of their cars have been more practical and frugal than edgy. The tC has been the only car of theirs that actually struck a chord with the intended demographic and its glass roof is apparently very popular... so convertible sports car is an obvious next step. A convertible FR-S will be their halo car. Toyota's lineup in the rest of the world is a bunch of extremely boring sedans and hatches.. they want to get some of those 3rd car sales back that they've been missing out on for decades. |

That's it.. they needed a way to move all of those Aisin automatic transmissions that are pilling up.

I didn't mean that they had to strip WHILE driving or even be naked... I just want pics of women of the stripper profession driving convertibles. I keeps it simple.

Toyota offers the Solara as a convertible, but I think you're just as likely to see a sorority girl driving a Solara convertible as you are to see one of them driving a Sebring convertible. I mean, I'm not stereotyping sorority girls or anything, I think there are plenty of girls in their 20s that wouldn't be caught dead in a Solara, or Sebring convertible, but would desire a Mustang convertible, or a Camaro convertible, and could possibly be enticed by the FRS convertible. Just as there are plenty of people in their 50s or 60s who consider the Solara, or Sebring convertible to be a solid choice, and wouldn't ever consider a FR-S convertible.. |

Did you happen to notice my car at all?
Yes, convertible versions of cars that actually have true hard top versions are still horrendous. The s2000 is a special case because everything else about the car is just THAT good that I can look past the worst thing that can happen to a car. I cannot say the same for a miata or a z3/4. I would still never buy one. As soon as I pile up 3 grand, my car's soft top and motors are coming out. Permanently. |

I contend that 200 lbs, a higher price, and 2 less seats on this car kills all of the great things going on with the coupe. If I'm wrong and it's the same weight, price, and only loses out on a little space, it could be great.
You *are* drinking kool - aid if you think the former is a good move for the platform, whether it was in the grand design or not. No reinforced ring, extra weight, higher cost = bad for brand image just so they can sell an even smaller percentage of a niche car. If they "Magically" do all they say they will, keep the ring, implement for the same price and the same weight, then I'll eat crow willingly. But that's a lotta magic. |

I think the weight of the roof being removed and then adding the weight of the softtop & motor will be negligible, seeing as this car was engineered to be a convertible, not an afterthought. --kC |

Shaded areas are high tensile steel. From Subaru Global. The vert is likely to be significantly floppier. |
