Not a fan of this chop. The proportions are very mini-vanish. The hood looks too short to house the boxer. The rear overhang looks even shorter than the new Impreza's.

I can't believe how well Subaru has kept this vehicle under wraps.

what subaru don't want you to know is that they've fooled us all with the impreza, they're going to bring the Forester into WRC competition that way they can just pull trees down to block the road for those darn citroens..

Great news. Subaru never fails to make the new model "subaly", and refined the model in later years. . I think this is the real thing.

Please explain this word "subaly".
My father was killed in the 'Frog Wars' in South America, so I was forced to quit school in the third grade in order to go to work in a diamond mine to help my mother feed my seventeen brothers and sisters. Words like "subaly" weren't taught until the 6th grade.

Everything's riding on this one last pitch: the game, the season and perhaps the future of the 6-Stars franchise. Now here's the wind-up and the pitch ... Oh Damn! It's a swing and a miss for the 6-Stars and the team goes down in clueless defeat in what will surely be remembered in history books and by enthusiasts everywhere as the beginning of the end of the 6-Stars ball club. The crowd is not happy, in fact they're going absolutely nuts."
Another dart misses the board. At this rate one day there'll be more Chevrolet Aveos on the road than Subarus. What a sad ending for the little automobile manufacturer who forgot their place in the scheme of things and abandoned their base.

What great news for Jeep!
Increasingly day-by-day, more and more lost Forester sales are going to the new fuel-efficient, spacious, spunky and character-rich Jeep Patriot 4x4 AWD both in the USA and Canada, as well as in Europe and Australia.
Yeah Subaru, you played right into Jeep's lucky hand.

The definition of " Subaly" ..... Ugly in a subaru way? or beautiful in Subaru's mind? You are welcome to put your own definition.

Dusty,
Thanks for the explanation. Knowing the definition of this word in context means that just maybe my father's death in the 'Frog Wars' wasn't in vain, and that my 'lost years' in the diamond mines may eventually be redeemed with a GED Diploma.
"Subaly"... maybe that's the problem here: Subaru's recent designs aren't quirky ugly enough for my tastes ... they're just bland ugly, and bland means boring.

I bet that's the real thing... it exactly matches the description the UK focus group members on sf.org gave after seeing the car in the flesh... down to the funky "double wheel arch".

Rumor has it that's where you insert the starter crank just as in Henry Ford's Model 'T'.

Utilizing a starter crank allowed Subaru's bean counters and engineers to shave a few bucks and a few pounds off the new vehicle by eliminating the need for an onboard starter while at the same time allowing them to install a lighter and less expensive 12 volt wet cell battery.
Just a rumor mind you, but not unthinkable considering other FHI/Subaru decisions we've seen come down in recent times.

Before we declare it ugly, shouldn't we see an ACTUAL picture of the car?
I know that seems revolutionary and all, but I guess I just think out of the box like that...

I think we all agree than change is a bad thing.

See real pictures before the hating begins? Nonsense!
