Question Where to buy: two post car lift?

Anyone know of anyone selling used two post lifts? Four post would be OK as well but whatever it is I need to be able to park in it without hassles. Ceiling height not an issue.

I had a friend pick one up for next to nothing a few years back from a Volvo dealership that was renovating, so they've got to be out there!

Help me find it, you can use it at a garage day.

Thanks,
Paul

Um what good is that lift going to do you 14,000,000 miles away? Still cool though.
I am DEFINATELY putting a lift and a BIG compressor in my garage when I buy/build a home

I've seen advertisement for these type of "portable" lifts they use on many of the autoshows over the weekend.

If you have time try to watch a few of the shows on TNN on a saturday:
1. Horsepower TV
2. Shadetree Mechanic (or whatever they call it)
3. Trucks

See if you can catch the name off one of the lifts, or maybe even a commercial. If I see the shows this weekend and see something I'll let you know.

The Want Ad sells just about everything. Check the Automotive Tools section. I swear I saw more than one in there a few issues back. You could get lucky.

Paul: yeah one of those might not be a bad way to go.

If anyone sees a garage or shop going out of business, let me know. I figure a unit form one of these places should be available pretty cheap (like under $1k). After more research I'm pretty sure a four post is not good: too big and in the way.

Thanks!
Paul

Paul,

Keep your eyes open and ask around at the local NAPA/Auto Zone/Speed shop. They often hear about stuff like this (and dynos and ..... for sale. When I built my garage, a friend of mine owned a speed shop with attached repair shop. He was replacing a 4 poster and offered it to me installed for $1000. It turned out that it took up too much space for me and I ended up passing on it. You will need a BIG garage for a 4 poster....this was with a rack, so bigger than some.....alignment sized. And yes....keep an eye on the Want Advertiser ...I have 2 ads in it right now
