Default 2002 WRX w/16g and water/meth

Just got tuned today by Tim at Dyno Authority in Redmond,Wa. I had my car tuned there last summer when I had a VF39, and it was fast, but I needed more torque down low (the car is really only driven at autocross). The numbers are pretty good, of course I could always use more, but I think this will hold me over for a while.

Mods:
- Forced Performance 16g (standard 16g)
- Walbro fuel pump
- 07 STi injectors (~565cc's)
- CSS top mount intercooler
- K&N short ram intake
- Aquamist 2D, 50/50 water/meth with a 0.7mm nozzle

Results (Mustang Dyno):

275.7whp @ 6000rpm
276.1wtq @ 4750rpm
21psi boost peak by 4000rpm, tapering just slightly starting at ~5500rpm to about 18 at redline
AFR right around 12.5 to 12.75

Compared to my previous setup (VF39, USDM STi tmic, no water/meth) I gained 13.3hp, and 32.8tq. The top end feels about the same, but you can really feel the torque down low. Power feels much more linear and smooth, as its just there the whole time. Before, the good power band felt like it was only 5k-7k, where as now, everything above 3k goes like a rocket.

I don't think there is much more I can do on the 2.0 to get much more power while retaining my low end for autox. 300whp/300wtq would be rediculously amazing, but I'm not sure I can do it (or want to, $$$)

Yes, autox is far too addicting... I started about 2.5 years ago, and haven't been able to stop since.

It was a mustang dyno, I suppose I'll add that info.

those numbers sound a lil low for your mods....that wouldnt bother me as much as you swtchin to a better turbo, better ic, and running meth and the top end doesnt real any better. Iam sure the tq helps in auto-x but a lil more top end never hurts

Good numbers, but the torque seems to come on a bit late, and the boost seems a bit low for meth/water.

22psi is low?? I don't think I'd be comfortable running higher than that on the stock motor!

The CSS intercooler was like $250 or something? I can't remember. The intercooler itself is fine, no different than an Ebay intercooler, and their customer service is TERRIBLE. But I can't complain about the intercooler itself, it works great, just took forever to get it.

You said 21 psi. I wouldn't worry about the block around that boost level, but the point I was making is that the boost seems low for the octane level. I run 22psi on California 91 piss gas, and 25-26on meth

Yes, but it was not a result of too much boost. It was an oil issue (spun bearing). And it's still very much alive, just slowly dying, but it gave me an excuse to go with a built motor

My problems didn't happen running meth, they happened on a pump tune driving around normally (5psi max during daily driving).

if you autoX why didnt you just keep the sti tmic, plumb it with meth and get a PnP'd td04?

a td04 on meth with alot of boost can make for some NASTY torque numbers.

the 2.5L guys are making like 300+ wtq with the td04.

How much boost were you pushing with the vf39? I push about 22psi in the midrange on my 07 STI but tapers to about 16 at redline (on 93 pump.) With meth injection 24psi should be achieved realativly safely and offer a really nice mid-range punch!
