HAHAHA negative on the prius! Last week not alot occurred I hurt my back and it's just getting better. I'm working on fabbing up a new air intake might be dropping down to a 3" instead of the 3.5 but haven't decided yet. Once I finish that I'm going to make an air box and a mount for the surge tank under the hood

Still having clearance issues? They not much help when you contacted them? Be nice to keep the larger intake pipe if possible, he'll might just dent it a tad with a rubber mallet. Lol

Turbo is 100% in. The intake fits just really tight, might just fab up an extension and have it welded so it will be a CAI and gain some clearance. Also I had to grind off the bottom bracket holding the ABS up to make it fit LOL

So major updates today. Made the decision to rip the turbo kit out and sell it. Fitment is just piss poor and im done trying to create work arounds, Especially since i lost my EGT due to poor placement by full race. Looking at either an ETS kit with gtx3076 or the new xona rotor 65/64 turbo series. Possibly a fog light mount kit with either turbo

Sorry to hear, but sometimes thats just what needs to happen with a project. Buy the kit new? Might bug them about a return option if you haven't messed with the parts much, always worth at least asking. Good luck on the next steps.

HAHAHA just saw this... Yeah FR has some **** products, but some good ones too.

My advise: Don't buy anything but their headers and up-pipe (possibly their DP). And for the love of god, don't have them weld any bungs anywhere.
Get your own turbo, your own DP, and your own boost tubes. The rest of their stuff is so bad it hurts. Trust me. (refer to my build for more rant)

Razgeiz return it. It isn't an if you can return it. There is a guy their named Matt (production manager or something) and he was able to let me return everything I didn't use. He was very helpful. Talk to him.

As for as this guy? not sure why he is laughing (is it at Razgeiz?) I hope not. 500whp daily is very possible and I myself run a 500whp daily and love it. Very possible and achievable given the right stuff. Razgeiz, not sure how far along you are but if you need some advise, shoot me a PM and I can give you my cell. I feel like I am the guinea pig in a lot of issues others have faced.

I think that last comment you are talking about was due to the thread being nearly 3 years old without the car being "finished", but that is just a guess. It will be done soon enough I am sure, just need to keep chugging along.

What are common failure points with 500 WHP Sti's? I was reading this thread and a lot of people were saying they blew motors after 10k, but never citing what happened. Piston, rods, sleeves, etc.

Wondering if building a closed deck block with forged rods and pistons would make it last longer than 10k.

So without hi-jacking the dudes thread too much, I will try and answer it quick (asking that question should be it's own thread)... This no such thing as a correctly built Subaru breaking at 10k without having the worst driver mod. The biggest issues is oil starvation, piston cracking issues, and piston wall issues. With a built closed deck (again from a good shop) you are fixing all of Subaru's high ranking issues. Build it with top quality parts, build it with parts that match each other, and get a pro tune from a reliable company and it will last. I have seen 500whp builds go 50K and they are still climbing, no issue (daily driven). Now he doesn't go full Ham everywhere, but does push it when he wants to. Be smart, build using good parts, have gauges that tell you when the car isn't right, don't be a bad driver, and it will last like factory.

Any luck returning those parts? Or with finding a solution?

A daily driver is a car that is driven short trips to the store, barley ever gets warmed up, sits in traffic, drives in crappy weather, deals with maintenance issues, deals with bad driving habits, crappy fuel, often prolonged oil changes, harsh cold starts, lugging and all sorts of other things. In my opinion, these things make up a daily driver. This is why I find it hilarious that someone would attempt to have a 500WHP Subaru daily driver. I do not disagree that someone could meticulously care for a car with 500WHP and make it last 50k or more, its certainly possible, just highly improbable. The very notion is hilarious because very few people have the patience, attention to detail and resources to pull it off. Not to mention, a 500WHP car would be aftermarket up the wazoo and we all know how long "aftermarket" parts last.

I'm daily driving mine at 467AWHP right now... maybe it's the 33HP that makes the difference.

This always comes down to: FAST, RELIABLE, CHEAP. You can only ever have two. This is coming from a guy with two +00whp EJ cars that are driven in all of the above scenarios and then some, but the amount of money spent on them to that point is ridiculous. Some of us really love these cars and have aspirations of doing great things with them, which is and has been proven to be possible. If we do it for our own enjoyment, who cares, it's for us. If you're trying to do it on a budget, have low expectations for either of the above 'fast' or 'reliable'. /endrant

I think saying that for it to be a daily, you need to have harsh cold starts, lugging, missed oil changes, crappy fuel, and lack of maintenance I find to be wildly incorrect. I take care of all my cars even the third bastard child of the family (2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee). I couldn't imagine having something broken and still drive it, or miss an oil change, or put crap oil in it, or don't let it at least warm up a minute or two(who doesn't have a minute... like really).

I daily my 500whp (well 550whp) STI and I suspect I should have no trouble in the near or later future. If something needs to be replaced, I will replace it. I guess people treat their daily's differently... If it's the one I am in more than ever, why wouldn't I want to make it perfect?

ANYWAY, please give us an update on your build so we can stop this "500whp daily isn't a thing" nonsense.

Check back in two years. If you haven't already blown the motor or rebuilt it. I'll eat my shoes.

IAG Stage II-tuff short block.

If something happens, it happens. That's the assumed risk. It's still my daily and I don't beat the ever living piss out of it every chance I get.

Also, none of my dailies have ever had prolonged oil changes - I do it at 2.5-3K intervals. Basic maintenance is part of the game to keep any car running, this car is no different.
