No luck on the engine so it looks like a rebuild now. Are you talking about the guys at DC auto? If so, what are they capable of doing. Can the bore and hone a block. That is a long drive out there also for me.

These guys are capable of doing anything and everything to a Subaru. I am also sure that if you guarantee them your business that they will come pick up your car for you.

Hi guys, I am going to be visiting Germany in July. I wanted to go to the Ring on July 15-16. I have read the other threads on renting race cars, but was wondering what your opinion is on just using a normal rental?

I don't plan on doing any amazing times, I just want to drive the nurburgring and if any of you guys are down to show me the ropes I would really appreciate it!

I would just rent a race car, but most of the shops I contacted said that if I wanted to run their track day it would be an additional 900 euro, which is twice the price of the car. So I figured I would just take it slow and enjoy this legendary drive.

Thanks for any advice/input you guys would have!

pharo: Welcome to Germany (I know, not yet, but w/e). As for using a normal rental, it's totally at your own risk. Almost every rental company in Germany prohibits use on the Nurburgring (they actually mention it specifically) aside of the places right there in Nurburg. That said, you can take it on the ring and as long as you don't hit anything or get side swiped, no one is the wiser. And you'll see all kinds of cars on there at times (I saw a Mark I escort with a WRX swap in it, crazy) and Oma and Opa are known to go for a Sunday drive at times.

As for the dates, I'm not sure when we are all planning on going next, but July is a good time to go. You're most likely to have a little rain or dampness on the track, but that's Germany. July gives you a pretty good chance at it being nice. Let us know what's up, maybe we can do a meet or something there.

Alright guys we are looking at the 26th (Saturday) for a meet at the ring! So far the meet is up to about 4 people, let's get bigger!!!!! This is our plan, drive there Friday night and hotel it up. Saturday track and maybe stay one more night to Sunday knock out a few laps then leave that day. Just a thought but most likely I will leave Saturday with the group. Start knocking out GT5 laps to memorize the track and watch my videos!

should probably make a thread for strictly nurburgring meets/events/roll call etc. leave this thread for those checking into europe. my two pennies. <3

so the 26th instead of the 19th, tracking. it will probably be my last run before shipping the car, we'll see!

Thanks for the heads up Drew! I will definitely check into this thread to see when you guys have another track day. It would be awesome to meet up with some fellow NASIOC-ers.

Gotcha! This thread is for general talk and checking in to Germany then. I made a separate thread for the ring and etc. for the ring. The reason for changing to the 26th instead of the 19th is because the track is closed that day and the 26th is on a four day so that gives everyone the best opportunity to meet.

You still needing to get engine work? Let me know what we can do to get you on the road! DC Autoservice can help, I am sure if you guaranteed them work they may grab the car for you from home! I would have to confirm but seems to be a running trend with them, great guys!

So, anybody want to help me replace a wheel bearing? My driver's rear bearing is definitely bad, I might just take it to DC since the install looks challenging, at least for me. I will be giving Christian a call tomorrow at any rate, seats will have to wait unfortunately.

Hey guys, not sure if this is kosher, but since this is most of the germany guys I figure this would be the place to ask. I am in the market for a newer louder exhaust, however I track the car regularly around the 'Ring and they have the 95 dB cap. I was wondering if anyone is running the Invidia N1 Race with a catted DP and they pass all the sound tests without getting hassled.

Not a N1 but i have G200 with catless DP and have passed last 5 years here. Without putting the silincer cap in the tailpipe. I think I came to 93.7 db. The db for the ring is 100. Was in a sti when we got booted for being just over 102

I have a turbo xs with high flow cat and test pipe. Passes with cat but with the test pipe you are too loud. Just got the inspection with cat then went back to test pipe. Swapping between test and cat pipe is maybe 10-15 minutes. It's located in the center of the exhaust. Selling it to a German but I MAY sell to you if interested.

Nah, I really like the N1 canister look. I might just buy the street and run the silencer for inspections. Thanks anyway though.

Oh no!! Mine is 105db at idle! Silencer is 101-102. The only way I passed inspection was stuffing steel wool I side the silencer lol

I went to DC for the first time Friday night. All I can say is wow. Those guys love what they do and will break their back to help you. I'm still amazed what they did for me:
Swapped my o2
Checked the car underneath for any possible issues
Hooked me up with a hood prop vrommet since mine cracked off
Loaned me some stock used tires since mine were showing wires (just found out as I left for the shop)
Christian took copies of my maps to send to the tuner in Switzerland to see why it idles funky.

Any issues you have, the guys at DC will help. I'm going to order some Star Specs from them on Monday so I can get them their tires back. The tire shop didn't even want to mount them cuz they're already low on tread. They did it anyways though.

I wonder if I could get a loaner catback for the Ring lol I've wanted a quieter exhaust but the wife loves it loud. Plus I get this aNNOYING rattle like an exhaust heat shield @ 2200rpm...I don't have any heat shields so wtf?!? I want a catback with a nice resonator in it and see if that takes away that rattle.

Too bad you dont own a GR sedan, coulda given you my Megan Racing unit. Its pretty good, but too quiet for my tastes. After running open downpipe for a month, anything less makes me sad.

I saw an axle back at DC but no test pipe. I'll ask Christian about it.
