Honestly the stock air box is the best way to go even with a pro-tune because the thing is rated to like 400 or more HP and it is a cold air intake. The only time you really have to go with an intake system is when you use a FMIC because the stock one will not fit at that point. But running any intake with out the appropriate MAF scaling is just dangerous. Cobb only has OTS maps for their intake and the AEM one.

soo the only solution if i want to keep the intake is to is to get the cobb tuner and then set it on a dyno to get it tuned ??? is there anyone that's would be able to tune the car if i sent data logs after i get the cob tuner ?? we don't have many options to set a car on a dyno here in hawaii at least no none worth a dam that i have found so far

Yeah pretty much. You can get the Cobb AP and run it with their intake or the AEM one with an OTS map and never have a problem. Or you can get the Cobb AP and then get a E tune though Torqued Performance, they have great reviews.

I was thinking of purchasing a process west TMIC for my 2013 wrx. I currently am running the stage 2 + sf 93 map. Just want to get rid of the plastic stock tmic. Anyone else running this set up? Ive read online and some say to protune and some say you don't need to. But to get full benefit of the pw tmic you need to Protune for sure. Let me know as I found a good deal on one new for $700

You would think more power would be made with modifications. My world is crumbling right now if this isn't true!

Hopefully this is the right place to ask this, I'm new so be gentle, ha ha. Anyway, I recently purchased a used 2013 WRX Hatch with the following mods installed.
Cobb turbo back exhaust AEM CAI Cobb XLE BPV Cobb EBCS Process West TMIC A friend of a friend who is an STI owner and mechanic drove the and told me he believes it is likely running a tune due to it seeming to run properly and no codes. However the vehicle did not have an AP present and there was no information in the vehicle to provide a clue to the tune. I'm thinking of getting the AP with AEM maps due to not knowing what tune is currently on vehicle. I've found the AEM maps, but is there one specifically for use with the EBCS? Any other thoughts? Thank you in advance for your help. Adam Last edited by AGENT-X; 10-24-2015 at 01:39 PM. |

Hey guys. Just picked up a v2 AP for my 2013 WRX. I have an SPT catback and an AEM Dryflo filter. Would a stage 1 be good, or should i be putting in a stock paper filter in its place? Will performing a pull with the AEM hurt it, or should I not take any chances and go back to stock? Thanks (i'm still learning about this tuning stuff).

Hopefully I can get some help here. If not, point me in the right direction.
I recently purchased a 2015 STI with existing tune on it. The current tune works very well, but I purchased an accessport as a way to monitor the system as well as give myself options on future tuning. My problem - I tried to install the accessport and warned me that the existing tune would be deleted and lost forever. Is there a way around this or something I can do? |

I'm pretty sure all of the it's maps now are for cobb mods only. You'll have to look into a protune

Anyone have an idea where Perrin keeps their maps now? I have a Perrin CAI on my '11 Sti, and Perrin has an entry on their blog about the maps, but I can't find them on their site.
I emailed them but in case anyone here knows... |

This guide also has a lot of great stuff. https://cobbtuning.atlassian.net/wik.../view/26870189 Get rough values and flash, drive, then datalog and adjust MAF Calibrations by range accordingly. I did this for an intake, rough values were fine for everything except range A which is idle range,. PITA they all perform different on idle because of air turbulence in the intake. Typically when its sucking air at a high velocity it will fill up intake and work accordingly to diameter but on idle its just breezing in some air to keep the car running so makes a larger difference here. Range B may need minor tweaking from above 5.6 g/s to like 7 g/s first cell or two, the rest should fall in place. Didnt touch range C or above at all. My C learning is max -.6 and D which my cut off is at 80g/s is 0 no ecu reset for 2 months, SPT intake. Hope this info helps out if you aren't able to get those maps. |

So I just bought a 2016 sti, I've been out of the car game for a while. Last car I owned was a 1990 coyote swapped foxbody. This car is a whole other beast it seems. The car already has a lot of mods on it from what I've seen so far as I learn more about these cars. I have a GrimmSpeed 3 port boost controller, turbosmart BOV, invidia downpipe with a high flow cat welded in just before mid pipe, invidia q300 exhaust and a Cobb CAI. There's probably other crap I'm missing too but, I just bought a Cobb AP and I was curious if with those known parts will the stage 2 tune be ok to run? I'm not sure what injectors I have, I think they're stock. So what I really wanted to ask here was would I be better off just buy some injectors and a fuel pump and throwing the stage 3 map on it?

Look at the map notes. Follow them exactly. The tune is calibrated the the mechanical components. Injectors are very sensitive to tuning and if they are not set up right in the tune then they could cause serious problems. As far as the intake its probably ok since its a cobb, in general subarus are pretty sensitive to changes in intake piping so it may affect fueling, but probably not enought to cause damage. the 3 port may cause over boosting. if the tune is not calibrated for higher boost and greater airflow then engine damage may occur. what tune is on it now? the stage 2 is probably fine so long as you dont have any fuel mods (besides a pump) |

Thanks for the fast response. Stage 2 93 octane tune now. My boost seems to be hitting the listed psi perfectly in S I peak at 16.1. I just wanted to be sure I was not gonna pull timing or run way too lean and explode my car hahaha. Because the only difference from the listed parts for the stage 2 is that I have all of them plus the cold air intake. I’ll have to log it and look at it later today.

Keep in mind that knock needs context if you pull in your drive way and see a -2 that could mean anything, it could be totally benign or something you would want to investigate further. You need grams per rev, boost, and rpm at a minimum in a log to start to guess if any knock that was detected is harmful or not. |

is the "AF" 'AF Learning 1' or 'AF Correction 1'? Driveability tends to affect emissions and fuel economy. |

i'm about to drop the following in my car (04 usdm wrx mt sedan):
- Grimmspeed cai - tomei inlet - pnp manis - grimmspeed crosspipe - catless up - catless divorced dp - cobb catback Cobb's website is unsurprisingly lacking in any sort of compatibility discussion outside of Cobb branded hard parts. Will one of the OTS tunes work? Better yet, will i need a tune to get to car to a shop should I require a more definitive pro-tune? Further, if I do need a pro-tune, and get one, do I even need an AP? |

Question about basic tune
So recently I've been doing a lot of work to my 2011 STi and noticed that the exhaust system (stock) was really rusted and rough.. found a small hole in the up pipe so it wont pass inspection also. I ordered and received Tomei headers that came with the up pipe, and an Invidia catted downpipe (VA emmissions inspection or i would have gone catless).
A while back I got a catback exhaust system from a buddy of mine who totalled his STi (same year, unknown specifics on the exh other than it is made by Invidia, hence why i went with the invidia downpipe). I havent put it in but plan to install with the downpipe if everything works out. So now that I've got all that in addition to my Cobb intake, I'm looking at off the shelf tunes to run until I can get a custom made (also waiting because i'll be upgrading a few more things in the not too distant future to include boost control solenoid and potential fuel system components). Any advice or recommendations??? |
