Accessport + SPT= Good or Bad?
Hey guys, just put the SPT intake in and yeah it's pretty sweet. I posted a thread about it under 2.5L turbo if you want to read it.
1)My question for the accessport guys is......how will stage 1 work out? Just got a used accessport for my 06 (and yes it's been completely unmarried) but i'm wondering if i should remove the SPT and revert back to stock until cobb officially releases there statement on the compatibility or if i should just say f*%^ it and flash to stage 1. 2)I noticed a thread where a stage 2 guy posted ecu readings with his SPT. How do i do this (the accessport is coming in next week so haven't used the software yet) so i can post my readings to show you guys to make sure my 93 mapping will run ok?

Cobb does not recommend running intakes on their maps. They are testing the SPT intake but as far as I know they haven't told us anything yet. I would go back to stock while you are flashed stage 1, if you really want to use the intake you could get it protuned but I don't know if that'll really help.
for number 2, the Accessport doesn't allow you to take logs or read readings from the ECU. He most likely had a laptop and some other software to do this. |

Cobb is currently doing "testing" to see if it will work on not. Do a search and you will see quite a few hreads discussing this before this one. In short, people have done so and the logs seem to be alright. Why don't you download openecu and do some logs for us if you are so concerned and we can check them out for you and then draw more generalized conclusions for the masses.
make7upyours728- of course that makes sense, you pulled out the resonator and put a short ram on. You are hearing the turbo, and since there is a long application of high boost under load you are hearing your turbo... be excited, that's what you bought the intake for since there isn't any hp gain without some custom tuning and a good heat shield. |

the Cobb intake is "approved".... how convenient... and that was probably my thread the OP was talking about... there is a free datalogger available for download in this forum in the stickies... download it to a laptop and plug in the AP cable to the laptop and start logging. |

anyone know if the APS pod air intake is compatible with Cobb Stage 2 and have the numbers/sheets to prove it?

I dont believe the APS is. I have read numerous posts about how difficult it was to get a good protune with the APS intake, but it can be done. So my best guess is that you would definitely want a protune in order to run that.

Well, Stage 1 is up and running with the SPT.....throttle response is immediate and the car boosts sooner as well. I can notice a difference particularly in third (it pulls as hard as 2nd did before the flash!) so i would say it is all worth it. SPT sounds great still too.......i spoke with a few people in the business of tuning and they reccomend i run a Stage 1 91 octane mapping so my car doesn't run too lean with the aftermarket intake. I have a base 91 map and switch 93 realtime on when its go time. To help prevent any knock at all i run 93 octane through the car at all times. I swear it improves my gas mileage and performance enough to justify spending the extra couple of cents per gallon.
