Who is running an EJ22T? A.K.A. Legacy Turbo...
I'm curious as to what kind of results you are having with this engine? Do you like it? Are you driving the MY90-94 legacy turbo or did you swap it in? Has the engine been reliable?
What kind of modifications have you done with it? Supposedly, the engine is 165HP stock? What have you gotten it up to? With what mods? Any replies are helpful. Thanks. =Ty=

Subiekid, you might have a bit more luck asking in the Legacy forum since there are still a few Legacy turbo owners lurking the boards. There are a few Impreza guys running the EJ22T I believe(Andre I think, Arik K, Byron from B-Spec to name a few). There is also a mailing list called the BC-BF Legacy Works that has a ton of good info if you search for it.
FWIW, the weak points of the EJ22T are the heads(Cobb Tuning put them on a flow bench and found they were poor to say the least) and the standard turbo is too small for any kind of real power(can't really maintain any kind of boost above 10 or 11psi). I had a Legacy turbo for years with not a single problem from the motor or turbo(or anything else for that matter really). I ran a WRX intercooler, 11-12psi on the stock turbo(Joe P MBC), RalliSpec turbo-back 3" exhaust, cold air intake, and a few other bits here and there, and the car performed terrific. It was no race car, but for a street car it was a total blast to drive since the exhaust and turbo combined for ULTRA quick spool-up times. Still, not much happened after 5000rpm. It just ran out of steam. Hope this helps some. BTW, they had 160hp stock and 181lbs/tq. |

EJ22T
Its a bulletproof motor, jus tneeds a bigger turbo and intercooler to make serious power. My 1993 Legacy Turbo is all original at 112k miles. Lots of torque at low rpms but like was said before runs out of steam at higher revs. Top speed 130mph on the dot. Never ran 1/4 mile or anything.
