Boost Gauge For Bigger Boost Applications
I would like a gauge so I don't have to waste an ap spot to monitor boost.
What gauges accurately match the factory ecu reading? And, where is a good location to tap the pressure source? I currently have an AEM gauge that is total crap both in vacuum and boost. I've tapped at the manifold fpr location, and off the Bpv both without success so it's got to be the gauge.

It seems to use the same sensor as the AEM I have now. Certainly uses the same plug on the sensor end. |

There's a lot of sensors on the market that look very similar, the Delphi connector is an extremely common plug for sensor applications. I have had the same sensor in my STI for two years now. Works flawless and is accurate to the reading I get on my Accessport.

Always tap your pressure source right from the manifold,
We use a AEM boost gauge 5 bar, and a link ecu 5 bar for the ecu map. both sensors match within .1 of eachother all the time. |

Thx. I have tried the bpv/fpr line and also directly off the manifold where the oem fpr source nipple is. Neither with success.

directly off the manifold is how you measure atmospheric pressure entering the engine. reading it from that position is the best location.
if it does not match your ecu reading then either your ecu is reading wrong or your gauge is broken/installed incorrectly. |

The vacuum numbers do match up with the ap.
I cant say that it's doable, doing so COULD void the warranty. |

Idle for my car is around 18 inHg but reads (-)8.8 PSI on my AP.

Man I feel dumb. I swear the oem dash gauge said inhg..... The aem gauge is in fact inhg
In any event the aem gauge is still off in psi and it's more than a little off. I suppose confirmation that the manifold or Bpv locations are providing others with accurate reading is enough to confirm the aem sender is off, and aem version of in spec is sloppy. |

I have tried other locations to get the sender closer to the main wiring harness but have found the most accurate reading off the BPV. I actually have a vacuum line from the T at the BPV running under my intake all the way over to under the upper coolant res where I then have my sensor and it works fine.

i have prosport evo gauges. all of them are bang on accurate.

Almost bought some of those, but ended up with the AEM to match my wb02.
I have an innovate oil temp/pressure gauge also. I really like the boost gauge and wb02 gauge being combined in one, but I don't know if it's possible to convert the wb02 data from the gauge to the AP like is done with the AEM uego |

Ok guys.... Need some help. I have now have the Innovate psb-1, and it has a 4 bar map sensor.
I also hooked up fuel pressure logging, and re-did the reference line off the manifold for both boost and fpr. I'm still way off when compared to my access port (MA sensor). Are your guys' peak boost numbers matching the peak boost of the access port? |

So your gauge is reading mechanically right? Off a hose?
keep in mind you are measuring pressure of something compressible, not oil, so head loss and flow restrictions will lag a reading. Peak numbers are exactly where that lag will be seen, technically it will never 'get there' if you have a long small diameter line feeding it and you hit a peak that immediately drops down. A sustained pressure will get there, but peaks that drop off won't. The AP is probably getting its reading from an electronic sensor at an ideal spot, so there's no reading lag and a peak jump will be seen and transmitted instantly. |
