Question Brakes question

I just changed the front brakes on my father's 99RS auto. After putting the brake pads, I pumped the brakes a few times, and took the car for a road test. Well, the car stops well, but the pedal feels a bit soft, compared to my 01RS 5speed. My father says that the pedal doesn't feel any different, but I don't know... My car's pedal feels much harder. Did I do something wrong? Does it feel softer because the pedal itself is larger cause the car is automatic and I'm not used to it?

Thanks all!
Oh, almost forgot, this is the first time the brakes are done, and the car has 24000 miles.

Danny

I'd think most likely nothing is changed (besides the thickness of the brake pads). Did you feel the brakes before you changed the pads?

If brake feels excessively too soft, then bleed the system and see what happens.

I did a search, and there are few people who claim that bleed port must be open when pushing back the pistons on ABS brakes. I never heard of that, but apperantly bubbles may form w/o opening the port.
