Anyone running Speed density on their 207's ?

Where have you mounted the iat ?

I planned on putting it between the bpv and throttle on the lower end tank of the I/C. I'm trying to think of solutions to prevent it from heatsoaking, and/or assploding the engine.

I'm also having difficulty finding a compressor map for the Td05h-18g, ( MHI did not make one public from my understanding ) and only found one based off the 20g.

20-22 psi should be realisticly within this turbo's efficiency range ?

if i was pushing 22psi on my td04 without problems you should be able to run a 20G at 20psi nearly to redline. why dont you use the stock location found on the V8 manifolds. under the throttle body there is one. if you dont i think my friend used one of the flat circle locations under the throttle body on the intake mani. tapped a hole for give intake sensor. the GM iat sensor is widely used and the scaling is pretty commonly found as well. figure out what threads it uses. tap it. install. change scaling in rom to match the Voltage and temps of the GM sensor. run the wires that are on the maf that run iat to the new sensor lines. might need to add a few feet of wire but no big deal.

yeah thats the plan.

I found a gm iat with pigtail for 30 something bucks.

I hadn't noticed under the TB but the casting scares me for the heatsoak on the sensor, and that's its really close to the engine block.

get phenolic spacers, the airflow inside will overcome with little bit of radiant heat the sensor body see's. otherwise cover it in aluminum foil.

Im trying so damn hard to go to work for the rest of the week and wait until Sunday to install it.

Hi, my braided oil cooler line was pressing against my headers and burst. I need to order more lines but just wanted to confirm that the EJ207 Spec C oil cooler lines and fittings are Dash 10 in size. I have searched all over to find the answer and haven't been able to.

Thanks
Mike

My motor (v9) didnt come with any intake. Wondering what you guys like on your jdm motors. Should I look for a stock one, aftermarket short ram intake, cold air intake or get what I've been eyeing for a few days (arc shortram airbox)??? Much appreciated guys!

get a stock one with the snorkel and a nice filter. or get a CAI. a sri just leads to high iat and heatsoak on the intake in general. fresh cool air is the best!

I just hate risking and worrying about water getting into the intake.

I have an APS 65mm CAI. no problems with water in 4 years or so.

If you have a stock box just run that unless you are changing anything major engine wise.

I dont have any intake. That's why I want opinions, on just get stock or what people like on their jdm motors. Thanks for your opinion, Mike.

run a dry sock over the filter. i have one and have never had an issue with it preventing air flow. you can run a sink over them and no water goes through.

207 ECUs are not obd2 compliant. They will not pass the IM240 test

yeah. wasn't sure if someone had found a way around that. meh. i can't wait to get out of this state. we can't do anything fun to our cars. not even tint the side windows to keep the 110*+ heat out.

Some of us got lucky in the past and the computer would pass even though it could not read. But with the latest tests, They fail you. You can of course use the US ECU

but i won't be able to control the AVCS? sorry to ask as i'm sure these are the same old questions that have been asked a million times.. is there a thread i can read so you don't have to keep reiterating all the info? LOL

i'm very curious about this swap. it sounds like i would be extremely happy with the engine. MIVEC made a huge difference on my Evo, compared to the non-MIVEC engines... so the idea of AVCS and an 8k rev limit is RIGHT up my alley.

Kaj,
You won't find anyone here who's disappointed with this engine.

Yes the avcs does help quite a bit in the low to mid-range. I can always tell when its not working (before it reaches 180)

Read this thread from start to finish, all of your questions will be answered, any lingering questions feel free to ask.

The swap is a no brainer for any 02-05 wrx, it can actually be cheaper than most other options. Mine ended up costing me about $1500 after I sold most of my old engine parts (my ej205 was still in good working condition.)

Get the whole front clip if you can swing it, it will end up being cheaper if you plan to upgrade the tranny and brakes down the road.
I wish I would have bought it all at once, it would have saved me a couple thousand.

After doing my turbo swap yesterday to a Dom 1.5XTR, I'll confirm that the V7 EJ207 has that oil filter in the Oil Feed Banjo bolt at the back of the block. It looked perfectly clean to me but with the size of that mesh, its easy to see how it would get clogged.

Why would you waste an engine like that with those turbos?
