Yes. And yeah, we don't switch to E70 in the Bay Area. I verified this with one of the E85 providers. But were I live it gets into the 20s on clear nights.

I'll mess with the tables some. It's not terrible, just needs some tweaking and it's a little different from the EJ205 ROM.

anyways with that spool number alone i think this will also be my turbo choice. i would expect you to hit 350whp at 10psi more with around the same wtq just past full spool prob at 3900ish rpms.
Yeah, airboy will show peak torque much later, like 4500. It does a lot of smoothing.

I think I have a good idea when it will spool, though... Here we are compared to a ~2 year old boost plot:

If I'd have tried to select a turbo that would be closer to this boost curve, I surely would have failed. Happenstance is an interesting thing.
I might gain a smidge with higher AVCS advance. This wasn't even enough load to push it to 40*.

That is pretty damn good, here is what I can squeeze out of my vf36 for comparison, 2300 Ft ASL

That next 10-15 psi on your car is gonna be fun.

so hows the progress Concillian? im interested to see the power around 18-20psi. its spooling as quick as the 18G which prob put you around 340whp on the ej205? if you hit around 360whp at 20psi im going to break the bank and buy one myself sooner than i thought!

Lol... Your welcome!

Really depends on what your goals are for the car... Mine is daily driven and its basically just bolt on mods tuned by STI Mikey and I love it. Running a v7. I don't plan on getting rid of the vf turbo but I beat the **** out of my car and have not had any problems since I swapped which was over a year ago.

So this spring I plan on doing a 207 swap on a 2002 Wrx.

I had a few questions or maybe just ideas gloating around.

If I have the motor pulled would it be wise just to do the following

12mm Sti oil pump
Killer B oil pickup
Sti oil pan

Other than that it looks as simple as a motor swap with some pinning on the jdm Ecu.

I did the pickup and the 2.5 pan. I wouldn't mess with the oil pump unless it was damaged or leaking.

As long as you have a Ver 8 EJ207 (MY03+) you will already have the newer style STi oil pan from the factory, just replace the Oil Pick-up tube.

Replace the oil pump with the same unit that comes on the EJ207. Don't get caught in the bigger the oil pump, the better cycle. Because that's not true.

Clutch is slipping somewhere. I was always on an MBC, so it took me a few maps to get the hang of tuning a 3-port. Doing 1-2 maps a day means that took most of the days between the last update and now. This morning was the first map that wasn't having a massive spike anywhere. Spikes to 20 psi are definitely slipping the clutch, but once it settled back down the clutch would hold again.

13-14 psi is not slipping. I'm targeting 14 psi, but don't have quite enough max WGDC to keep that up at high RPM on my current ROM. ~280 TQ / 300 HP airboy with 13.2 psi at 300 HP area. For reference, the 18G at 20-22 psi was 300 TQ / 310 HP on the EJ205 using the same road, software, and weight / tire / gear settings. Lower than what I expected for the 18g for sure. My EJ205 never put out top numbers, was around 280 Tq / 265 HP on the TD04 / E85 @ 20ish psi. Right now at 13-14 psi on E85, my EJ207 is above my old EJ205 91 octane / TD04 @ 20psi line at every RPM. and it's only lower than the 18G line where the 18G was running 6-8 pounds more boost.

I'm hitting 280 g/s and getting a little close to the 300 g/s limit, so next I'll tackle converting my current map to Carberry to get away from that flow limit. On the 18g I did a MAf re-scale to give me room, but I might hit the MAFv limit on this turbo, and I want to learn Carberry anyway, so I'll be doing that. It may take some time before you see a 16-20 psi plot as a result of learning SD tuning.

Also, I didn't measure how quick it comes into boost at speed on the 18g, but if I cruise on the freeway in 3rd, it's like 4800RPM. It goes from vac to 14psi in about 500 ms with the EFR. It sure feels quicker to get back in boost than the 18G did, but I have no real data supporting that.

20+psi isn't going to happen until I decide to replace my clutch. I may be able to slowly taper it up to 20psi at 7000 to see what kind of peak power that would result in though. It was slipping from the high rate of change in torque at boost onset when I had spikes up to 20psi because of my inexperience tuning the 3-port. It may be able to hold smoother torque changes at high RPM... we'll see. It sure seems like 360 airboy at 20psi is within the range of possibility based on ~300 HP at under 14psi.

Are there any USDM model year stock exhaust manifolds that are NOT compatible with the v8+ oil pan? I really miss the sound of UEL headers... and have been thinking about going back to that setup. But iirc... I can't keep a twin-scroll setup, if I go that route

I had to swap in my EJ205 oil cooler to use the EJ205 exhaust manifold. Otherwise, the ver8 seems compatible with stock UEL manifolds.

The twinscroll AVCS passenger side oiling pipe was also incompatible with my EFR turbo kit. Luckily I had a USDM AVCS oiling pipe on hand.

I don't know if this oil line interferes with a typical Subaru single scroll turbo, but replacing this was no small task, as the oil line goes UNDER the coolant crossover pipe, so required removal of the intake manifold and the coolant crossover needed to be pulled up like 1/2 - 3/4". If you used a braided teflon type of oil line, you could route differently and just cut out the twinscroll hard wall oiling line.

Any hard line oiling line from the AVCS oiling line to the turbo is likely going to be in the wrong place, so you'll need to run an -4AN line at least part of the oiling line, but most aftermarket turbos require this anyway.

The oil pan on the v8 is the same as the 04-05 USDM STi oil pan, near as I could tell. I had the 06+ oil pan on my EJ205.

The turbo oil feed line is a known weak point in the design. I had one fail on me. They crack at the the point just under the link joint between the rail and the turbo feed line.

I now run a -4 braided line on that side of the engine.

I thought I read it somewhere that's what it was but couldn't remember. Lol.

I believe it's that time so I'm going to change it for good measure. Should've done it a while ago but the leak down test before the swap was perfect and the mileage want that bad. I got the time and materials so I changed it. LOL

I did the same thing, my motor supposedly only had 30km on it and from the leakdown I believe that. How many miles have you put on so far?
