Quick question for everyone. Converting my USDM 2004 WRX widebody with a full version 7 swap. Unfortunately the company I have planned on going through has cut the bulk connectors off of the engine harness. My question is, does the USDM engine harness swap over to the JDM engine? Could I just swap my current WRX harness over, wire AVCS and call it a day? Or are the harnesses different and I should find another motor?

Contact IAPerformace, they have what you need. You can talk it over with them.

I'm positive you can find a motor that has the necessary harnesses uncut, but it's a matter of price and time if it's worth it. If you're paying $4k for your motor package, then it's definitely not worth it, buy one that isn't cut. If you're paying $2k then it's worth building your own harness. In the middle? Find out shipped prices from importers smart enough not to cut the harness and decide on price combined with what you value your time at. Nobody can give you a straight answer on what you "should" do here, since both ways are possible. |

There is a TON more meat on the ringlands thanks to the shorter stroke allowing more space between the wrist pin and the top of the piston. Ringlands have never been an issue on the cast 2.0L pistons. 2.0L engines spin bearings or break rods, with rods primarily being an EJ205 issue.

Quick inspection question: Failed cause of V8 JDM ECU in NJ
I know I can put a 02-05 WRX MT ECU in and will pass but was wondering if theres any issues I need to be aware of?? I'd have to buy/borrow a ECU and heard that the VIN# is coded into it and they can't be swapped back and forth. Can someone please shed some more light on this subject. |

If you put a usdm ecu in, it will throw a code for the TGVs. You need to flash a map or use romraider to take care of the usdm ecu with a jdm engine to pass inspection.

Same here. I'm wondering if there's something underlining to these V9 spun bearings.

NJ inspection just looks for any cels and looks for specific obd2 feed back to pass. The JDM ecu does not reply back on a few tests that the state computer queries about which cause you to fail. |

Well, it's the mixture. I would have to assume though a mix of 110 and 93 would raise it to more than 93.

Morning ladies,
I have my heads apart ( 207 spec c's ) and a buddy gave me BC stainless exhaust valves. Should I stick to factory valves or replace with new BC stainless exaust ones ? They actually seem heavier ( the BC's ) and are flat instead of dome shaped. |
