I did not read this thread at all, so if it has been said already, Oh Well.
Veloster Turbo needs the 274-hp 2.0L twin-scroll turbo motor from the Sonata with a 6 speed manual transmission. I would be the first inline to buy it.

I never like hatchbacks but I kind of like the Veloster, it's different, in a good way. However, I'm not really interested in a 200bhp FWD car. It should be great competition for the Civic Si; maybe even superior in terms of acceleration since it should make power much lower in the RPM band due to the twin-scroll turbo and direct injection.

I've had my Veloster Turbo for about a month now and I love it. Sure it's not close to being as fast as a WRX or STi, but it's a great econo-performer and an awesome DD for driving 80+ miles a day which is what I do. |

I traded in my 07 Civic Si for my Veloster Turbo and couldn't be happier about the change. I hated the Civic Si. The power band is a joke, and the touchy throttle was really annoying. It handles well, but that's pretty much the only Pro on my list for that car. Regardless of what MotorTrend or InsideLine says, the Veloster Turbo is just as quick, if not quicker than a Civic Si. I much prefer the powerband of the Veloster Turbo as it is much more linear and mostly low end-mid range power. But to each their own |

guys, the veloster is an econ car. you can get a turbo one for $22K. at that price, you're not getting a 2.0L 300HP eng or AWD. it's not going to compete with a $35K STi

It's got a cracker jack suspension anyway.. so even with 300hp and AWD it still wouldn't compete with an STI.

$22k is right. Don't listen to all these car mags who say "oh this car costs $26k so it's not worth it". When all they've done is added the expensive Ultimate Packagae for $2,500 which adds a Panoramic sunroof, back up camera, and a couple other tech goodies, and they also like to add either an Auto Trans or the Matte Paint, both of which add another $1,000. Hyundai is also offering $500 military and a $500 motozuma discount right now, so I got my VT for $21,915 including destination. Pretty sweet price for all that you get. The Base VT comes pretty damn loaded as is (7" touch screen stereo with sub, heated leather interior, projector headlights, Power everything, proximity key w/ push button start, etc. Quote:
Yes the car does have a solid rear axle and it is not ideal, but the car actually handles pretty well. The steering is pretty tight and body roll is very minimal. I was concerned about the car's handling characteristics before I bought mine, but after driving it for 2,500 miles now I am not worried in the least. It handles pretty well IMO and the only time you really even notice the solid rear axle is when you're going over some hefty bumps at higher speeds. And this is even on stock tires. the Stock tires are crap on the VT (Kumho Solus something) so I can only imagine how much better it would be with a nice set of KDWs, which I plan to have next summer. |

I'm referring to those trinket-laden, glittered-out abortions above. The car's a dog. They might as well have used a Honda Odyssey to showcase their poor taste.

Yeah, keep upping the grip .. you won't understand the downsides until you're going backwards off the road... or, you know.. do the research and learn why it's a cracker-jack suspension and why adding grip is just asking for trouble. I'm sure the Veloster Turbo is a perfectly fun car to drive around town.. but it's no platform for a performance car and definitely not a good starting point for tuning. |

^^^^^^Yeah.....kinda sarcasm kinda serious.
They had a complaint about almost everything, steering, braking, cornering etc... yet this little thing out slalomed the FRS by like 2 mph..........feels ****ty but goes faster thru the slaloms? Little biased dont you think? Seems like theres alot of hate JUST because its a hyundai....Thats like saying the WRX is a better car than the STi big brother, but the STi is slower in the slalom lol |

Yeah it's an Apples and Oranges comparison...
A RWD performance driven 2 door coupe built for supreme handling with low center of gravity. Vs A FWD economy 3 door hatchback built and geared for fuel economy with a little bit of performance to go with it. Not even in the same realm as far as their purpose. |
