UTEC - knock sensor question
ive done some searches and I cant exactly find the answer I need. Is it possible to disable the knock sensor through the UTEC? If so, the check engine light would not flash if the motor was knocking, correct? I was just curious because im running a good amount of timing and about 19psi that the tuner set up. When I have my laptop plugged in and just have the key on, then I go into the Dashboard setting on the UTEC, the knock sensor on the bottom right says *Disabled*. Now when the car is on, it doesnt say anything, there is just a line. I wanted to know if the tuner disabeled the knock sensor or not.. thanks in advance

The UTEC does not disable the actual knock sensor. The UTEC can be set up to be less sensitive to knock and in the future the CEL indication from the UTEC can be disabled.
The "Disabled" indication on the dashboard indicates that the engine has stopped and the UTEC is ignoring any signal from the knock sensor. regards Pete (TurboXS) |

thanks a lot guys. i wasnt sure if it was disabled or not. its just weird because in 2nd or 4th gear if im at part throttle the car will jump slowly, then steady out then jump again..its not a violent jump but i know its probably not good. I thought it was because timing is possibly too high for the apllication. but then i thought that it would knock if it was... Junior tuned my car so im pretty confident that its a good tune..
