Default 2011 WRX Interior Illumination Installed

I installed my auto dimming mirror and footwell illumination lights today. Mirror was a snap. It was a little tough getting the wires through to the footwells, but too bad. Just thought I'd post some pics. Sorry about the quality. The conditions weren't ideal for photos. Don't mind the snow.

Looks pretty good! How long did it take you to do each one? Also, I suggest you should put a write-up for future references unless there is no threads that has done this or somewhat different.

Thanks! The mirror took about 10 minutes, the lights took about 30 mintues. The reason the lights took so long is because I was in my driveway kneeling down in the snow. In a garage it would have been much easier. Here's a link to the instructions for the lights. To get the wires through, I used some zip ties as a snake. It helped.

Wow the blue lights are a whole lot brighter than the red ones I installed. Did you take the "condom" off the center console light?

Yeah, they are brighter than I thought they would be. No, I didn't remove the "condom." I would like to change it out for a blue light someday though.

Awesome thanks! BTW, was there not enough room in the garage? Also, that sucks that you were doing this project out in the cold and snow .

Do you have the part number for the auto dimming mirror? And would anything else be necessary for installation?

The part number for mine is: H501SFG000. I got it from www.subaruonlineparts.com. No other parts are needed unless you buy the homelink mirror. Only tools you need are a phillips head and a flat head. It's really easy.

I don't doubt it. Subaru makes tons of parts interchangeable.

Looks good! I was thinking of getting these (or something similar) in my '07 Impreza. Would you happen to know off hand if they would fit? If not, I'm down with some customizing.

I don't believe they will fit before '08. However, it wouldn't be too difficult to make it work. This is for a forester, but you get the idea. It CAN be done. I'm sure there is more than one way as it's not a complicated part.

lol for a sec i thought this was an old pic I took and posted. And you used for an example. Then I read the rest of the post.

These are the OEM footwells from subaru right? Where did the harness hook up? Just curious cuz I might change mine to dim with the rest of the car.

Ill see if i can dig up my old pic somewhere.
Edit: here we go... I think i would like the OEM one better, much dimmer. I have a bunch or tape over mine to dim it. But hey I cant complain for $15. This is before the tape overlays.

Is that the same Subaru part they can install as the optional footwell lighting? While shopping for my car I saw this option and said "mehh" to myself, it was hardly noticable. After seeing your pics though, either the dealer was trying to pull a fast one (for $88?!?) or it wasnt hooked up right.

Yours looks pretty sweet, good job.

Yeah, these are OEM. The harness hooks up to the light underneath the heater controls. It just gives you a splitter to give power to the lights in the footwell. Amazingly simple.

Thanks. Yes, these are what the dealer would install. There's really no way to mess it up. At night, the lights are brighter than I thought they would be, but aren't blinding or anything.

Don't have a garage anymore. If you have any questions about your mirror install, shoot me a PM. Very easy though, you should have no problem. Here's the instructions just in case.
